Russia is reportedly deploying nuke-ready missiles in the province of Kaliningrad which borders Lithuania
PRESIDENT Obama has deployed US special forces troops along Lithuania’s border with “aggressive” Russia.
Tensions between Washington and the Kremlin have reached Cold War levels amid reports Vladimir Putin is deploying nuke-ready missiles in the Russian province of Kaliningrad – which borders Poland, Belarus and Lithuania.
And Lithuanian Defence Ministry spokeswoman Asta Galdikaite confirmed America has offered additional military support following Russia’s annexation of Crimea.
She said: “The United States was the first to offer additional safety assurance measures to the Baltic countries following the deterioration of the security situation in the region after the annexation of the Crimea.”
She added: “US Special Operations Forces presence in Lithuania is one of the deterrents” against military threats by Putin’s aggressive regime, reports the Express.
US military chief General Raymond T Thomas told the New York Times that America has a “persistent” presence in the Baltic states bordering Russia.
He added that many former Eastern Bloc countries are “scared to death” of Russia and the vulnerable states are “desperate” for America’s leadership.
The US and its Nato allies will send battalions of up to 1,200 to each of the three Baltic states – Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia – and Poland by spring this year, reports the New York Times.
Lithuania’s foreign minister Linas Linkevicius confirmed Russia’s military activity in Kaliningrad is terrifying the region.
He said: “Iskander missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads have been deployed. There are S-400 missiles and modernised jets.”

Who invited NATO in Kosovo? For all the bluster about the Ukraine and other nations, NATO is still illegally occupying Kosovo which is still legally part Serbia taken during an illegal NATO invasion.
I am not an apologist for Russia. I merely stated what the dialogue has been.
With the implosion of the Soviet Union and the fall of the Berlin wall, there was a big attitude that we won, and a “peace dividend”. My thought was are you kidding??
All those communists didn’t suddenly become free market capitalists overnight, and I actually felt that the threat level was still quite high, and we shouldn’t let down our guard.

It was incredibly awe-inspiring to watch this video, and see our armed forces color guards as they performed the “Armed Forces Full Honor Review Farewell Ceremony”. I think how it’s strange that in the matter of 3 months. Freepers have gone from remembering that the communists have torn down every social construct in the USA, from marriage, to our views on homosexuality, and now have become huge communist defenders. Has hate for Obama clouded all of your eyes?

Like some people here on FreeRepublic that support the Putin worldview, Obama, who shared their view, accepted that Putin could be appeased and was someone you could have a good transactional relationship with (remember the comment in 2012 when he said on a hot mike after the election I'll have more room for a deal). To Obama and the pro-Putin people, the former KGB Colonel was no different than any other world leader. In 2013, all of the US tanks were out of Germany. The result of Obama's naiveté is a re-assertive Putin who used the Obama/Clinton reset to pursue his own goals of reestablishing dominance over what the haughty Russians call the "near abroad." The lesson here is that Putin ruthlessly pursues his goals without concern for anything else. He's not interested in being a good neighbor, a partner for peace, or a paladin Jesus Christ, or of the people world. He's interested in protecting the small oligarchy that runs Russia. He's a fraud and a thug.
Luckily for real conservatives, not the ones who show up here and praise Putin and applaud his empire-building as some type of Christian project, there is the model of the highly successful and real conservative president Ronald Reagan. He correctly showed that when dealing with the Soviets (and frankly much of Putin's ethos is still in him from that time from his formative years) you must watch them closely and judge them by their actions. You can negotiate, but verify anything they say because you cannot blindly trust them.
That trump should form a new world order aligning us with Putin and others against the globalist war mongers.
