Amnesty International is making a final push to convince President Obama to circumvent Congress and close the Guantánamo Bay detention facility before the end of his presidency.
“On behalf of Amnesty International’s 1.2 million supporters in the United States, I write to make a final plea that you use all the powers of your office to close the detention camp at Guantánamo Bay,” Margaret Huang, executive director of Amnesty International USA, wrote in a letter to Obama on Tuesday. “We are gravely concerned that if you fail to do so, President-elect Trump may attempt to bring dozens or even hundreds of people there, to be held in unlawful detention for decades and possibly subjected to torture and other forms of cruel treatment.” […]
Trump has said he won’t close Guantánamo, adding that he plans to “load it up with some bad dudes.” Trump has also said he wants to bring back waterboarding and a “hell of a lot of worse” to interrogate suspected terrorists, such as those held at Guantánamo.
On Tuesday, Trump also tweeted that Obama shouldn’t release anyone else from the facility. …

All the powers of his office do not allow him to close Gitmo.
Of course they did not allow him to release all the prisoners he has released, either.
Or give work permits to illegal aliens.
If we had an opposition party they might have stopped him from doing those things.
Or maybe even prevented him from usurping the office.
Except they wanted to run ineligible candidates, too.

Don’t you just get the feeling that Margaret Huang, executive director of Amnesty International USA, is pulling a “please don’t throw me into the briar patch” move in plain sight?
I’m betting that she would probably enjoy being waterboarded.
This Huang is a major left-wing piece of work. Her profile on AI’s website boasts of her being “an advocate for human rights and racial justice for more than two decades”; she worked as the treasurer for the US Human Rights Network (Ajamu Baraka’s pet project, himself another AI hack and of course Jill Stein’s VP candidate); never mind so many other seemingly ad hoc “rights groups”, and of course, pushing the communistic UN agenda on US soil. It’s all she has ever done.
Huang is a cretin of the first order. People like her are a malignancy on civil society. Can you say “loser”?
