Greenland Enters 2017 Adding Extraordinary Amounts Of Ice And Snow

Greenland’s ice sheet kicked off 2017 gaining about eight gigatons of snow and ice, which is well above what’s usually added to the ice sheet Jan. 1 for the last 24 years, according to Danish meteorologists.

In fact, Greenland’s ice sheet has been gaining ice and snow at a rate not seen in years based on Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) data. DMI reports the Greenland ice sheet’s “mass surface budget” has been growing significantly since October.

Greenland’s “surface mass budget” for winter 2016-2017 is already more than two standard deviations higher than the northern ice sheet’s mean snow and ice accumulation over the last 24 years. DMI data shows the ice sheet added 8 gigatons of ice and snow Jan. 1, well above the standard deviation for that day.

But, but, but.... Must be "fake news" put out by dastardly deniers since we also have this little tid bit:

http://dailycaller.com/2017/01/03/satellites-show-2016-tied-1998-for-warmest-year-on-record/

Warmest year since '98. Or ever in the pre-recorded history of the erf. Or something. Uh, it's called WINTER in Greenland. No doubt the summer of '17 will have it all melted.

The solar scientists tell us that the Sun is entering into another less active period.
If they are right and we have another mini-Ice Age or worse, a real one, we will wish we could produce enough CO2 to keep us warm.
Of course, it won’t work.
The greenhouse theory is nothing but hot air.

From that link:

NASA takes readings from weather stations, ships and buoys that go through numerous adjustments to correct for “biases” in measurements. UAH satellite data looks at the bulk atmosphere. Satellite data is adjusted as well, but in different ways and not as often.

“Contrary to some reports, the satellite measurements are not calibrated in any way with the global surface-based thermometer records of temperature,” Spencer wrote. “They instead use their own on-board precision redundant platinum resistance thermometers (PRTs) calibrated to a laboratory reference standard before launch.”

I have a Leftist acquaintance who was touting globull warming by saying that this year nobody could walk to the north pole because it wasn't there - then he said that ships were going through the northwest passage.

I asked him when was the last time there was a lake at the north pole had such a lake - and was he aware that it happened fairly often and was currently some 350+ miles south of the pole.

When he sputtered, I asked him why the northwest passage was called a "passage". He decided he didn't want to talk any more.

we will wish we could produce enough CO2 to keep us warm.

As if that were even possible. CO2 has nothing to do with keeping us warm.

Man made CO2 is about .0028% of the Earth's atmosphere.

I'm not at all surprised. After all Al Gore (Peace be upon Him) warned us that Global Warming could also cause Planetary Cooling.

**DMI data shows the ice sheet added 8 gigatons of ice and snow Jan. 1**

I don’t know what that means, but it sure sounds like a lot.

Yes. The reason for the term “Climate Change” is that it is totally non-falsifiable.

If the world gets warmer “Climate Change!”

If the world gets colder “Climate Change!”

If it stays the same, “Climate Chance is coming!”

It is not science, it is a religion.

These climate scientists can’t tell you the weather from day to day let alone decades or centuries from now. Look at California. They predicted an El Niño for the entire state last winter and that prediction fizzled. The same climate gurus predicted a dry winter this year and now they’re getting hit by lots of rain. Mother Nature defies these idiot climate scientists and their predictions. Atmospheric science is being turned into junk science by activism within the ranks. I swear everything the left touches turns into garbage.

Thee most convincing anecdotal evidence imho also is from Greenland. Years ago, some ice melted exposing an entrance to a mine shaft on a hillside, complete with ax picks. It was estimated to be 150 years old, as I remember, and buried in ice for that long..

Once warm, then cold, now warm again...and so it will go...
