U.S. government officials have been notified of new cases of attempted or potentially successful cyber intrusions, CBS News has learned.

Officials would not go into specifics or reveal the number of new cases. But the revelation raises concerns that Russian cyberattacks have been more extensive than originally thought. Since the U.S released a report on election-related cyberattacks on Thursday, a government official said more cases have come to light, CBS News’ Justice and Homeland Security correspondent Jeff Pegues reports.

I say “bunk”.

The administration is at this point, just spinning stories.

They care about what people will be left with, as a final impression, and have already shown they are very interested in portraying Russia as having been involved in somehow being involved in something having to do, somehow, with the election. Or something similar. Or maybe someone did.

This is PURE message, at this point.

I think.

Bid deal. How many cyber attacks have we done, or China, or GB, or, etc. etc.

Trump is right; no computer is safe from hacking. I read somewhere today, not sure if it’s true yet, that key offices in Russia are going back to the old manual typewriters, probably the electric kind, but even the manual kind too if needed I suppose, because they know how easy it is these days with the right programs to hack any security system anywhere.

Not saying it’s right but that’s the world we live in. Getting intelligence information from foreign countries goes almost as far back as the oldest trade in the book. That will never change. Sometimes countries use that to give their enemies false information just to screw with them or send them on the wrong track.

If CBS news can't find any proof, they'll manufacture it.

WOW !!! Like the U.S. Government didn't know about these things before?

CBS News has learned.

Shocking. Just simply SHOCKING !!! CBS learns something ...

Officials would not go into specifics or reveal the number of new cases. But the revelation raises concerns that Russian cyberattacks have been more extensive than originally thought .... [blah blah blah] ...

Gee Whizz ... like there was never any 'spying' going on in the world before the Dems had their pillow talk revealed ...

Since the U.S Democrats released a report on election-related cyberattacks on Thursday, a government Democrat official said more cases have come to light

There. Fixed it.

CBS News’ Justice and Homeland Security correspondent Jeff Pegues reports.

Didn’t China get VERY DETAILED info on millions of Americans from hacking?

I don’t recall ANY response.

Why isn’t anyone mentioning that.

Thank you. The Chinese hacked actual FedGov systems, not a political party’s. Why aren’t we talking about that more? From June:

Chinese breach data of 4 million federal workers
http://tinyurl.com/h5pxm2x

“Hackers working for the Chinese state breached the computer system of the Office of Personnel Management in December, U.S. officials said Thursday, and the agency will notify about 4 million current and former federal employees that their personal data may have been compromised.”

This was a hack of actual FedGov systems, resulting in a very damaging data release. NOT just some emails being released from Dem campaign operatives. No response that I know of in the Chinese case.

Do we need any more proof that the response to this supposed Russian phishing event is about domestic politics?

Ok, so if this is true wouldn't this be an indictment on Obama’s incompetent admin. A slam on Obama’s security apparatus. This is all happening under his watch.

Boy, the rest of the world is so lucky we don’t hack, exploit, or otherwise mess with cyber stuff.

Cough-Stuxnet-cough....

The fake outrage is pretty funny though.

The Office of Personnel Management outsourced administration of it’s computers to a company who used Chinese nationals, in China, to have administrative access. So technically it wasn’t a “hack” since the Chinese were authorized access.

Kinda like that, but more like shimmering hanging chads, clueless elder Floridians, Popeye vote re-counters, and that bastard Ralph Nader. Not to mention that other bastard Pat Buchanan and how he slyly put his name on the Florida ballot just on top of Algore's name .....
