I wish someone would refresh my memory ... what made Rosie O’Donnell a celebrity in the first place?
She’s unpleasant to look at, unpleasant to listen to, and seemingly devoid of any particular talent like being able to sing, act, play the kazoo, whatever ...
Timing.
The Libs/Commies/Dems/etc. were advocating for equal rights and equal treatment(the everyone gets a trophy plan), yet there were no STARS that were "unpleasant to look at, unpleasant to listen to, and seemingly devoid of any particular talent like being able to sing, act, play the kazoo, whatever ...".
So.... Rosie O'Donnell was 'promoted', who had all of those 'qualities', to be the 'champion' of their new 'cause'.
I think it’s under the rubric of “even fat talentless slobs can be movie stars too”
Makes everyone think that someday, they too could become Stars.
I once asked some older lesbian neighbors why they watched “Star Search “ and if anyone talented had ever been discovered. They said “ Rosie O’Donnell.”
