Russia should reinstate the monarchy and appoint Vladimir Putin as royal emperor, says an influential Moscow churchman.
Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin said another option would be to bring back the Romanov dynasty, which was overthrown exactly a century ago in 1917.
We are a country with monarchic mentality, he said, at the launch of his new book.
It doesnt matter that we dont now have formal monarchy; I think we can remake it with Putin on top. Or else with somebody from the Romanov house, or with an elected person as head.

Obama would resent not being named Queen.
Any Romanovs left or did the KGB eliminate the last of them?
The article mentions Georgy Romanov and his mother Maria Vladimirovna.

Due to the Russian hacking of our election I have decided to call it off.
Putin is the dictator of a Communist country.
They may as well make Putin their king.
What a shock. Or maybe they should call him the premier and bring back the Soviet flag. The commies in this site will cheer it.
Prince Dimitri Romanov, a claimant to the headship of the House of Romanov, died in Denmark yesterday evening. His wife, Princess Feodora (née Dorrit Revetlow) said he was taken to hospital last week due to a dramatic decline in health. She has confirmed he died on the evening of 31 December 2016.
Putin has no male heir. Wouldn’t work. However, I fully expect Putin’s successor to be named czar. Strong men with full powers have proven to be Russia’s most successful type of government.
And before people freak out about freedom and democracy please consider that different types of peoples need different types of governments. America will never have a king because we’re the type of people who don’t need one. There is no universal best type of government, only the best type for each different group of people.
>Putin is the dictator of a Communist country.
The only Communists nations left are North Korea, Cuba, Venusian, and Harvard.
>They may as well make Putin their king.
Communists hate kings and tend to murder them.
Stalin is the most popular, followed closely by Ivan the Terrible. Russians naturally love strong hard men who achieve great things (beating Hitler in this case), no matter how many corpse they leave in their wake.
“Putin is the dictator of a Communist country.”
We all miss the cold war. Get help. Even a passing knowledge of Russia today wouldn’t call it communist country.
Yes, there’s the Maria previously mentioned along with some other distant branches which say they have a claim, but it’s an obscure topic since not many people are Russian monarchists.
Ironically, Maria’s son is actually a Hohenzollern.
Stalin's hero was Ivan the Terrible.
After Thomas Paine wrote “Common Sense”, there is no excuse for anyone to be a follower of monarchism. Paine utterly dissected the stupidity of monarchism, and laid it bare as nothing but thugocracy.
And lefties say Obama should appoint Hillary president. Everybody knows she got more votes.
“Even a passing knowledge of Russia today wouldnt call it communist country.”
In Russia, the government controls the healthcare system.
In Russia, the government owns a majority stake Gazprom.
In Russia, the government owns all the railroads.
In Russia, the government owns a majority stake in the communications companies.
In Russia, the government owns a majority stake in Aeroflot.
Now, please explain to me how a government that owns all the major industries within a country is not communist.
Are you suggesting that my Queen, Elizabeth II, is a ‘thug’? If so, please cite an example of her ‘thuggery’.
>Now, please explain to me how a government that owns all the major industries within a country is not communist.
I suggest looking up the definition of communism and then comparing it to state capitalism which is what Russia practices.
