No, Father Mulcahy was played by Rene Auberjonois in the movie.

Regards,

PS: However, Gary Burghoff played Radar O’Reilly in both the movie and the TV series.

I recall that, in an interview, he said people asked him to pray for their loved ones....just based on his Father Mulcahey role. RIP.

My favorite Mulcahy moment is in the Season 4 episode, "The Interview" starring Clete Roberts.

"When the doctors cut into a patient and it's cold...you know the way it is now, today...steam rises from the body, and the doctor will will warm himself over the open wound. Could anyone look on that and not feel changed?"

How apropos that my yearly salute to friends is a line from the ‘M*A*S*H’ episode “A Year in the Strife”....

“Here’s to the new year. May it be a damn sight better than the old one, and may we all be home before she’s over.”

This was said by Colonel Potter, but it fits today.

The Padre is home.

We can all be comforted by the thought that he’s not really gone, that there’s a little Tuttle left in all of us.
In fact, you might say that all of us together made up Tuttle.
