Violent crime increased in Los Angeles for the third straight year as police tried to stem a rash of homicides and gang-related shootings while dealing with a growing homeless population.
With more than 290 people killed in the city this year, homicides also rose for the third year in a row. Still, the city remains far safer than a decade ago, when 480 people were killed and there were 46% more robberies than this year.
According to statistics from the Los Angeles Police Department, robberies were up by 13%, aggravated assaults were up by 10% and rapes were down by 4% through Dec. 17, compared with the same period last year. Homicides were up by 5%.
Overall, violent crime was up by 10% over last year and 38% over two years ago.

California, please secede...PLEASE!!!!!!
More illegals and sanctuary cities will help...
This is community organizing at its finest. Zero declares war on cops and they back off. Police hands are tied, and criminals go wild. Crime goes up so liberals call for gun “control”/confiscation. Win-win! All part of the plan guys! And liberals buy their way out of living with the consequences of their policies while poor and middle class folks get the shaft. Vote for us! We’ll decrease crime by disarming the non-criminals. Meanwhile women and minorities vote for us because we want you weak, defenseless and dependent!
But please annex Las Vegas before you do. ;-)
And if that happened, where would FREE REPUBLIC be ? Would it exist ? Would it be barred from the internet due to it's location ?
Fallout from “Snitches get stitches!”
I’m surprised that the LA Slimes didn’t sit on this story for another 6 months. Didn’t they get the memo that homeless people only appear during Republican administrations?
We’ll include Jim as part of the trade for them taking Las Vegtas when they go.
I can see Jim leaving California if that were to happen...
You even notice that CASINOS seem to have no problems with ‘flash mobs’ and ‘hit-and-run robberies’ ?
But they changed “South Central” to South Los Angeles to “Shake the stereotype.” How’d that liberal tactic work out?
Would you be willing to just pack up and move from your present home, to another state, just to get Cali to secede ?
Good point. Personally I suggest returning the state to a territory with federal administration and reconstruction into multiple states after the alien invaders are expelled to their home country (aka Mexico). This WAS the state that elected Ronaldus Magnus and voted in favor of propositions 187 and 8. It can be again. I have a dream...
Oops. I meant ‘ever’, not ‘even’.
Yeah... but then we'd have to create a new flag.
It’s a shame , I was born in San Jose in 1961 ...was raised in Massachusetts but even with that said i voted Reagan for President in my first election that I was able to vote in once turning 18. California is corrupt beyond measure and will need to be choked off of fed monies for it to have any chance of existing as a state. No other method will work when they blatantly defy law and demand cash to exist at the same time. I have lived in the TRUMP section of Maine for the last 6-7 years and could not be happier , except for the officials elected to DC....Polloquin is a rino ...Pingree a moonbat and I do not have words for Collins or King...But one redeeming factor is our Governor lepage ...he is a good man.
Maybe split it into or three states. First the SF to San Diego coast line. Then spent the remaining interior parts into northern and southern states. Problem solved.
Perhaps we could work it out so we get to Zero’s 57 states?! How ‘bout that huh? But seriously as a native and a conservative/libertarian (and deplorable/irredeemable) who is old enough to remember what the state was like before we were invaded. Now we need a process somewhat like that after the Civil War to root out the illegal colonists and their traitorous enablers.
There are a couple of options already in discussion. That said, we need to disenfranchise certain elements who have proven themselves seditious.
