I see that I'm not the only one who remembers Clinton pulling this crap stunt too.

The BIG problem is, this can NOT be undone. W tried, but was told to go away by SCOTUS.

Congress passed the law, Congress can repeal and replace.

Trump can encourage them to do so. IF there are to be “National Monuments” the Congress could list the specific ones approved, their exact dimensions, and have a much stricter procedure for any new ones (or simply not allow any new ones, by this point in history we ought to know what does or does not qualify by the appropriate criteria).

I don’t know if it WILL happen but this ought to happen, under a Republican Congress and R. President. Frame the law in ways that make it very difficult for any future changes.

Trump should just do it and tell SCOTUS to TAFFAARD.

SCOTUS is not the senior branch of government.

SCOTUS has its own history of being wrong and eventually overturned. Considering the way these lands were taken from the Navajo might portend a different mindset, especially after the Republican Senate has a real chance of eclipsing 60 in 18. Keeping in mind that it looks like Kennedy may only be in it for one more year because of his skinny hiring of “a” clerk instead of many. Ginsburg will be 84 this next year and Breyer will be 79.

Add to it, with the right litigator, all things are possible. Time is on our side on this one as is the hopeful neutering of the BLM.

I remember them trying to install a nationwide water control agency. Basically the ‘basins’ of every water source in this country would come under control of a River Master and land and uses for miles around any water source could be tyrannically controlled.
