I call it fraud and embezzlement of public funds.
Propose hypothesis.
Find some mathematical algorithm that seems to lead to the result desired.
Collect a few points of data, then fit them to the chosen algorithm. All data points not agreeing to this format are discarded.
Publish results, and sit back while the grant money rolls in.
Use grant money to attack those who would question the results, calling them totally irrelevant names and discrediting them in every manner, even threatening them with prosecution for engaging in some kind of criminal activity.
Fake news, fake weather, what next, fake sports? fake traffic reports?
This is why Trump needs to get the names of those involved and then Drain the Swamp.

I drive on I 80 occasionally west of Des Moines into western Iowa and back.
Every single time, my car thermometer registers a 2-3 temp rise as I come back into the Des Moines metro area from out in the country.
That heat island effect is NEVER discussed.
Man made concrete and asphalt shingles collect heat in urban areas.

Back in the early 90’s after the slickster got in office. I worked for a major airline. We were instructed to move the weather stations from field between the airfreight facility and the flight kitchen and to relocate them near the jet bridges that had southern exposures. They had to be closer to the ground as well. Now going from a grassy lot to concrete next to where the biggest aircraft were, that had the hottest APU outlets and exhausts. within a few hours we noticed significantly higher temp changes and less humidity. But they paid us a lot of money to maintain them.

One of the tricks is that in the early part of the 20th Century temps were often measured at airports - which in those days was way out in the country.
As time past, towns and cities encroached with all that paved surface reflecting heat, creating a virtual desert, and temperatures rose at the airports. Thus, the ‘gradual’ increase and the claims.
