You’re correct. The writer is editorializing.
Perjury charges are only for Republicans. They were looking to stop him from succeeding Reagan as Governor of California and installing the execrable Moonbeam. And now look where the state is today.
RIP.
I recall at the time hearing that the jury that convicted Reinecke was all-black and all-Democrat.
