Jimmy Carter is the only former president who has confirmed that he will attend the inauguration of Donald Trump on 20 January 2017. Earlier this month, Carter who had endorsed Hillary Clinton in the race to the White House, said at his Sunday school class in Georgia that he would attend the ceremony.
According to Politico, Bill Clinton and George W Bush will decide whether to attend the inauguration in the New Year. A source familiar with Bush told Politico that he is still weighing in on whether to attend the ceremony or not.

>>I hope he revels in it since he campaigned as The Outsider.
I’m sure he’s not reveling in it, but it does prove many of his points about the single party that only considers people like you and me to be their enemy. Progressives of both parties are the destroyers of American prosperity.
If Obama and the Clintons don’t show up, I would double security!
In response to this, I have removed the picture of W from my homepage (thanking him for keeping us safe in the wake of 9/11) and replaced with Reagan/Trump.
Bushes further cementing what a-holes they are to the party. Only play Republican when it serves them.
It takes very little or no class to declare that islam is a ROP.
Read my lips — Islam is a blight on mankind. Eradicate it and the world will become a better place because of its absence.
I did too, pretty much up until he left office. But, then he refused to counter the non-stop lies coming from Obama for the next 4 years, and I felt he had a duty to protect himself and us from that... but he never did, and still refuses to.
I don't know if Obama/Hillary blackmailed him into being silent, or what happened... I still don't understand his refusal to even try and set the record straight.
Never thought I’d say this: Good job president Carter.
You are no longer the worst president in the century.

Good! Bushes and Clintons becoming less relevant.
Who cares? There will be thousands and thousands of people who really believe in him that is all we need.
It’s in small and apparently insignificant gestures and habits that civilized behavior and societies are contained. In the larger view, it doesn’t matter whether or not Clintons or Bushes are there. But not to attend is childish and disrespectful to the office of POTUS and citizens. It will be telling to see what they do.
Carter I always found to be misguided and yet sincere in his foolishness. I know he dislikes Trump and so this is hard for him. Yet he’s doing it anyway. It shows a degree of character.
It is a sad statement on American politics that more than half of the living presidents had family members running for president this year and that they are butt hurt over their losing.
That’s all Dick cheney can do — stare. As an ex Halliburton employee, I should know.
It put a lump in my throat when I saw Gorbachev at Reagan’s funeral. Mutual respect from worthy adversaries. Reagan would have done the same for him. What happened to decorum and class?
Carter was always a decent human being. An incompetent President and hopelessly naive and wrongheaded in many ways, but fundamentally a good-hearted man.
Jimmy Carter - you may be a horse's ass overall but I salute you for doing the right thing in this situation and respecting the protocol.
There will come a day when all these "never Trumpers" and other sore losers come to regret the childish behavior they are displaying in the early days of the Trump Administration - which is already showing signs of being a historic turning point in our nation. History will not treat them kindly.
W. won in 2000 because he and Laura were seen as classy individuals after 8 years of Clinton/Gore sleaze. He later turned out to be a globalist. He had a folksy charm about him.
proper protocol, yes.
but i still wish he’d stay away
Jimmy Carter is the only former president who has confirmed he’ll attend Trump’s inauguration but he wasn’t invited.
It is an insult that Clinton or Bush are trying to decide. It is customary for former Presidents to attend and very childish to have to “decide”. It should be a given!
I wonder if Obama will show up...
