Jimmy Carter is the only former president who has confirmed that he will attend the inauguration of Donald Trump on 20 January 2017. Earlier this month, Carter who had endorsed Hillary Clinton in the race to the White House, said at his Sunday school class in Georgia that he would attend the ceremony.
According to Politico, Bill Clinton and George W Bush will decide whether to attend the inauguration in the New Year. A source familiar with Bush told Politico that he is still weighing in on whether to attend the ceremony or not.

I agree if 41 is that ill, I’ll give W a pass.
I’m pretty sure Clinton (him) will be there, just for the press adulation.
If Obama didn’t have to hand over the keys, I wouldn’t care if he stayed in Hawaii to golf.
Carter just improving his position over Obama who has taken Carter’s place as the worst president in modern history
Bush said he respected the Office of the Presidency too much, but I say he was a pussy.
What’s even worse is that many folks here are going into “he’s dead to me” mode base on a rumor of a rumor. You would think by now that our side would know better, with all the chatter about fake news.
In my youth, I worked at a resort as a banquet server. (Circa 1989) I had the opportunity to serve a private breakfast meeting that Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, and a former Japanese Prime Minister (I forgot his name) attended. I know FReepers don’t think much of Carter. However, he was very nice to me. Ford, not so much. I have a tendency to judge people by the way they treat service workers. Hence, whenever Carter says something stupid, I like to cut him some slack. I’m happy that he’s going to the inauguration. I think he is a lovely person. I’m also happy that that his cancer is under control.
“Carter I always found to be misguided and yet sincere in his foolishness.”
That is the best single sentence summary on Jimmy Carter that I have ever seen.
>>Now, not so much. Yep. It's pretty disapointing (at best) when the curtain gets pulled back and the past 55+ years comes into clearer focus.

And yet GW Bush found time to be co-chair of Obama's 2013 Presidential Inaugural Committee.
“GWB can happily consort with the Clinton Crime Family, but cant attend Trumps inauguration?”
If there’s a chance of a repeat of the way he behaved at the memorial service for the five slain Dallas LEOs, prolly best Dubya stays home with a case of scotch.
Fake news? Maybe. But this story has been reported independently on multiple sites.
I remember that. Great picture. I hung it up in my cube, the look he is was giving Obummer was priceless.
The “W” stands for Waaaaaah. The Bushes are acting like the Clintons and show themselves to be low class, despite Barbara’s pearls. Shame on them.
I always thought W had class, but now I wonder.
“Bush ... is still weighing in on whether to attend the ceremony or not.”
Someone doesn’t know their idioms. ‘Weighing in’ means giving one’s opinion.
The university trained, idiot millennial writer, likely meant to say that Bush is weighing whether to attend the inauguration.
Jimmy just wants a free ride like all DemoRats......sorry SOB.
True, but it's a mere convenience. Poppy Bush could be at the peak of health and still wouldn't attend.
Trump stomped the living crap out of the country club Republican'ts and Poppy's little boy, Jeb. He then went on to demolish Poppy's adopted daughter in the general election.
Poppy's still p'd off about all that. So is his boy, Dubya.
Didn’t you get the memo? It’s hip and all the rave to be vile and knee jerk? To hell with his fathers health there are more important matters to tend to than his own fathers health. So sayeth the upswell of populists.
The only class some people have is no class!
I never like President Carter but never hated him.
The man, to me, walked and talked as a Christian.
The Muslim will show to be the center of the Liberal Mecca! The Clintons will be somewhere counting their filthy lucre. The Bushs?Who G.A.S.A.B.?
It's funny how different people can look at the same thing and see it in totally opposite ways.
I look at that photo of Cheney eyeing Obama at the 2008 inauguration and see someone who's been cowed and 'put in his place'. To me, his expression reveals that he's internally disturbed by Obama, but resigned to the fact that there's nothing he can do to stop him from assuming power.
I’m’ so disappointed in W, really. I really thought he was a good guy.
