WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Obama administration said Thursday it is officially scrapping a post-9/11 requirement for immigrant men from predominantly Muslim countries to register with the federal government. The U.S. hasn't used the program since 2011, but a top immigration adviser to President-elect Donald Trump has spoken of renewing it.

Years ago (early-mid 60's) they used to run ads on TV..toward the end of the year IIRC...informing non-citizens living here that they must,by law,register their details with the INS.Don't recall when those ads stopped...but I can imagine that it was around the time that the Senior Senator from Chappaquiddick rammed through "immigration reform" (LBJ,mid 60's?).

With the internet this should be far easier to do than it was then.
