Couldn’t agree more with both of you. I was 14 in 1977 and fell asleep watching the original. Never watched another. I preferred Jaws from that era.
I saw the first one but only because friends talked me into going. They all loved it, I was so bored to tears after about the first 5 minutes. It seemed like a really long movie. Thankfully I was a smoker and so I kept ducking out for periods of time throughout the movie. I might add it was the only movie I ever went out for a smoke during a movie. I also made refreshment runs, LOL.
