A New York man’s legal defense for murdering a UPS driver is apparently to claim he thought he was brutally killing president-elect Donald Trump instead.
Justin Barkley, a 38-year-old Ithaca man, is charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of William Schumacher in a Wal-Mart parking lot Dec. 8.
But during Barkley’s arraignment hearing Monday, during which he attempted to enter a guilty plea, Barkley says the person he killed was Trump, not Schumacher.
“I shot and killed Donald Trump purposely, intentionally and very proudly,” Barkley said at the hearing....When asked whether he could be convinced otherwise, Barkley replied “I hope not.”
The judge refused Barkley’s guilty plea and ordered him to undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine whether he is fit to stand trial. If he does stand trial and is convicted, he faces 25 years to life in prison.

Compare this story to the recent incident at the DC Pizza place where a man brought in guns because he believed Hillary Clinton was running a child sex ring out of it. In that case, the mainstream media was quick to blame it on "fake news" and a climate of hate. In this case,however, except for a few "conservative" sites, no one is questioning whether a mentally ill man from the most liberal city in America "proudly" thinking he murdered Trump might be the result of the media's relentless attacks against the president-elect.

Second Amendment guy here, but I don’t know about that. If I’ve read the stories correctly, this (alleged) nut job was basically laying in wait and picked the (apparently random) victim off with a rifle and then drove over the body. You can’t shoot back if someone gets the drop on you in that manner.

In Ithaca, this probably means the defendant can claim both insanity and “necessity,” namely, that he thought he was killing the next Hitler.
I just remember Scott Foval in the Project Veritas videos taking about paying/using mentally deranged people to carry out violence at Trump rallies.
Anything to set a murderer free to kill again.
