President Obama bans oil drilling in large areas of Atlantic and Arctic oceans
Washington Post ^ | Dec. 20, 2016 | Darryl Fears and Juliet Eilperin

President Obama moved to solidify his environmental legacy Tuesday by withdrawing hundreds of millions of acres of federally owned land in the Arctic and Atlantic Ocean from future offshore oil and gas drilling. Obama used a little-known law called the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act to protect large portions of the Chukchi and Beaufort seas in the Arctic and a string of canyons in the Atlantic stretching from Massachusetts to Virginia from oil exploration and the potential for spills.

I hope (and trust) that DJT has people who know DC watching for all such moves. And with a detailed list compiled by these people I hope he’ll be able to scrap them. However,as I type a PBS finance show I’m watching says that Trump will have trouble rolling it back.Hard to imagine them being any tougher to roll back than they were to enact...particularly when they’ve been in effect for only a matter of weeks.

This guy is unfrickingreal.

Just yesterday he was warning Trump about using executive orders. He truly is suffering from some serious mental defect.

He really does hate America, and this was evident from even before he got elected the FIRST time. After a few months of playing President , we began to get a taste of the length width and breadth of just who he was and what he was about. Even back then, he seemed to have little time for America in the sense of explaining himself or his policies and how they were addressing strictly AMERICAN problems. Instead, he’d appear to breeze in periodically with a smile on his face, babble into microphones, and split. America and its people were just another show-biz “appearance” ,a “stop” as it were that he was obligated to make because his new job, sort of, “required” it. Instead of being a President of “all” the people, he turned out to be NOT EVEN the President of “his own people”, who are far worse off than they were eight long years ago. Obama was ALWAYS the make-believe President of many other countries, and cultural interests,as such, he was the ultimate tool for the Globalist Agenda.

Charles Krauthammer just explained why this rule won’t stand-

if push comes to shove, this will go to the supreme court where the SC WILL uphold the VERY NARROW meaning of the 1956 rule that dear leader grossly and intentionally misinterpreted to ban drilling in All of the arctic- the rule was very specific about protecting very small areas such as walrus breeding grounds- the rule was never meant to encompass the whole arctic region

The SC will likely slap this rule down as a gross over reach of presidential powers if it comes to it-

January 21, 2016, the Justice Department needs to open all of Barry’s record for a thorough investigation because if his birth certificate is void, so is every law and executive order he signed...

[[The statute in question gives the president discretionary powers.]]

I don’t believe it gives a president discretionary powers to mutilate laws already on the books- see my post above- presidents can’t reinterpret rules already on the books in an effort to advance a dangerous or damaging agenda- this is why we have three branches of government- to protect us against a rogue president who ignores rules- What dear leader just did was a gross blatant over reach of his powers-

AG Sessions can ORDER all the Records Released very easily by subpoena!!!!

This is probably the Number 1 reason Barry and his pet Chubaka have their panties all bunched up

The idea that "we gave him only power to declare it not undo it," would be funny if it wasn't so stupid.

Telling a president he can not revoke an EO is not one of the power's given to congress.

Now if they want to take the power to determine the fate of those lands away from the president in the future they can do that. But they still can not tell him he has to either issue or not revoke an EO.

So if they in some weird way manage to take the power over those lands away before Trump gets in office they will then have to pass a law saying those lands are off limits.

Because Trump can still revoke the EO.

some are of the opinion that, there is no provision for any President to undo it under that law.

IMO, this Obama move is mainly for the theatrics created by the anticipated Trump reversal of it. Gotta keep that illusion alive for the collective hive. The Dakota Pipeline will resurface again as well.

The law (an older law) on which Obama acted says the ban is permanent. Whether or not the law is constitutional is up for argument. I doubt it would stand up to a challenge by Trump, but the law as written allows the ban to be permanent.

Can you imagine what would happen if President Trump were to sell a portion of Yosemite Park for strip mining by executive fiat?

It appears not to be an EO. It’s an old law. He’s just helping out his Saudi/Arab handlers.
