And adding to Trump’s genius: he appoints McConnell’s wife to a cabinet post. So now, he effectively owns the Senate Majority Leader. That’s brilliant.

McConnell is the leader of Senators not the public. He did not go around attacking Trump in any case.

As for the races you reference, what makes you believe he has any real following outside his constituents?

He, like 99% of the GOP, did not know how to fight the Enemedia. In that respect he accurately reflected the party.
Only by destroying Fake News impact could those people have won and we had no one capable of that.

Just a note to keep things in perspective - there are 107 federal judgeships vacant now including 1 supreme court seat. Keep your eyes on the ball with respect to the Senate folks. The Reid Rule means that it only takes a majority vote to approve federal judicial nominees and executive-office appointments. http://www.uscourts.gov/judges-judgeships/judicial-vacancies/current-judicial-vacancies https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/senate-poised-to-limit-filibusters-in-party-line-vote-that-would-alter-centuries-of-precedent/2013/11/21/d065cfe8-52b6-11e3-9fe0-fd2ca728e67c_story.html?utm_term=.9639798074e7

“REMINDER:

Trump’s win is only ONE HALF of why we won’t have a liberal Supreme Court for A LONG TIME.

Mitch McConnell is the other half, and frankly, his winning gamble of holding off the Obama nominee will prove one of the most profoundly influential choices of all history.

We dislike much of what he has done, but make no mistake about it. THIS reversed it all. He was under tremendous pressure to proceed with Obama’s nominee. He said no.

And won.”

THAT is a very good point. He did hold his ground on the nominee and that is probably the best move he’s made in his career.

I’d like to think that P-E Trump’s election would give McConnell and his kind a clue, but they repeatedly have shown themselves to be the enemy of conservatives. I will never forget the dirty, dirty tricks they pulled in MS to keep Thad Cochran in office.

“It was a lot of feeling among just ordinary people...that the current administration didn’t care about them,” he said, “and Trump was able to convey, ...a message from a billionaire who lives in Manhattan a genuine concern (to those) who feel kind of left out.”

Ordinary as opposed to extra-ordinary people like politicians?

Thanks Mitch you are an orfinary jerk.

You just have to know that if the GOPe leadership had actually campaigned for Trump after he won the primaries instead of actually campaigning against him he would have won by epic proportions. The question now is how much were the the GOPe traitors paid to betray America and campaign for Hillary?

As for the races you reference, what makes you believe he has any real following outside his constituents?

Because he controlled the National Republican Senate Committee campaign funds distribution, and cut them off instead of helped them fight through it.

Trump schooled McConnell on the possibilities when you fight back.

“kind of left out”

He had to know the tea party in 2010 and 2012 was sending a message that they were “kind of left out”. He didn’t care.

Very good point - McConnell did not cave on SCOTUS. I was surprised by that; so used to him folding like a sad sack of scheisse.

“........The Senate victories were “really something,” McConnell said, “but it never occurred to me he (Trump) might be able to win as well.” ...”

IDIOT! The Senate victories were BECAUSE OF TRUMP.

““I honestly thought we wouldn’t hold the U.S. Senate,” the Kentucky Republican told Kentucky Educational Television’s ... “I thought we’d come up short, and I didn’t think President Trump had a chance of winning.””

No thanks to you, you rotten GOPe turd!!

Owen, your point is a very good one - as with the prior comment.

This is Yuge.

Sometimes, myriad bad moves can be overcome by one big, bold good move.

Holding out against Garland is the move for McConnell.

“Bring on term limits!”

Yes, if we had a 12 year term limit today, 227 of the 538 members of Congress would be ineligible to run again. THAT’S 42%!!!

I got to rub Trump’s victory in a liberal’s face this weekend. He claimed there was “no way in Hell Trump has a fu**** chance to win! Who the Hell would vote for the guy??!!”

You've nailed it!

Anyone inside the Beltway, no matter which party didn't believe the people had had enough of Obama - and lots of them!

If they don't get it, and us very soon, they're next in line to get booted!

These a hole leaders who had no idea don't deserve to be leaders. I am not in politics or media and I have a busy life. Yet I feel that I had the same feeling about the election as Sean Hannity did, and he was clued in in many more ways than me. Yet I came to my conclusions and Sean voiced how I was feeling pre-election. There were real paths to winning. We could do this. But depending on turnout, depending on the passion on the left to get out and vote, depending on fraud and illegals voting, we could also lose. That was the correct sensation heading to Election Day. Anyone who felt like we did knew it was possible and we were not surprised but relieved. Anyone surprised was ill informed. Seriously. No excuse for that in leadership. They had access to the same info as me.

I must admit, I am surprised he did hold the line. To understand that position, we need to see what was in it for him, or that he realized his political career would be over if he didn’t.
