'There Can Be Only One Response': Putin Reacts to Assassination of Russian Ambassador
Townhall.com ^ | December 20, 2016 | Cortney O'Brien

Russian President Vladimir Putin joins a host of world leaders who have had to respond to brazen terror attacks on Monday. One of those attacks happened in Ankara, Turkey, where Russian Ambassador Andrey Karlov was killed in cold blood by a police officer who was standing behind him during a speech in an art gallery. After he shot Karlov several times in the back, the killer screamed that he did it for Aleppo. The entire attack was caught on camera.

Putin has vowed revenge.

"A crime has been committed and it was without doubt a provocation aimed at spoiling the normalization of Russo-Turkish relations and spoiling the Syrian peace process which is being actively pushed by Russia, Turkey, Iran and others," said a stern-faced Putin.

"There can only be one response - stepping up the fight against terrorism. The bandits will feel this happening."

Monday's other tragedies occurred in Berlin, Germany, where a truck driver plowed into a crowd in a Christmas market, murdering 12 people and injuring nearly 50 others. German Chancellor Angela Merkel defined it as a terror attack. The killer may still be at large.

In Zurich, Switzerland - again on the same day - a gunman injured several people near an Islamic center.

They blamed the shot down Russian plane on the pilot who was sympathetic to Gulen. They delivered the pilot to Russia. Apparently the MO over their is to label all bad things as American CIA affiliated operations. Gee. It’s almost as if they do not trust the US Oligarchs.

You mean he didn’t find a scapegoat (movie) and excuse the actual murderers, because they had a right to be angry at said movie?

And people wonder why some respect (don’t agree with) Putin more than Barry.

Thanks.
Our current policy is ca-razy. Can’t wait for Trump to step in and put an end to the chaos.

You mean to tell me that Putin didn’t say that they shouldn’t jump to conclusions, or express concern about a possible backlash against Muslims living in Russia?

Follow up question (especially directed at those who said we had no national security interest in taking out Saddam), what threat is Assad to our national security interests?

Russia and whatever other powers, USA, etc. should be able to get into Turkey, cut any supply lines to ISIS, etc.

Turkey seems more concerned about the Kurds.

Turkey’s really been the hell in a hand basket lately, those police bombed, other incidences.

Someone needs to get in there and see what exactly is going on.

Quadaffi and Saddam were not the same, IMHO. Quadaffi posed absolutely no threat to US national security. He was neutered, and even surrendered any equipment involved with his fledgling WMD program to the US, during Bush’s term.

Saddam has Al Quaeda training in northern Iraq, he was responsible for a plot to kill Bush senior, had a history of manufacturing and using chemical weapons, was attempting to start a nuclear program, and was denying UN arms inspectors access to sites where they suspected WMD research was occurring.

Personally I don't believe we are getting the right scoop on Syria from either our "government" or the MSM.

Looking around for some alternate views I ran across THIS GAL. Eva Bartlett, a Canadian journalist.

She sounds very knowledgeable and credible but these days it's hard to tell.

Imagine what our reaction would be if our ambassador was killed. Oh, wait. We’d blame it on a video and then let the scumbag sec st run for office.

I agree with what you are saying there, but I was speaking in generalities. And remember, there was a reason Reagan dropped a few bombs on Qudaffi. I still remember that video, as the camera went upside down for a second.

Bottom line is that they have all been threats from time to time and a thorn in the western world’s side.

But I’m also reminded of the words of the direct superior to CIA agent Felix in Quantum of Solace: “I’m sorry. We should only be dealing with NICE people.” In geopolitics, things can get rough, like it or not.

Why is Russia playing nice to Erdogan and Turkey? Erdogan armed, trained and gives sanctuary to ISIS. Under Erdogan Turkey has gone from a secular state to an Islamic state. Turkey is no friend to the West, in fact, I think Erdogan is trying to resemble the Ottoman Empire which would be very bad news for Russia.

“There can only be one response”

Yeah, respond like Obama did when they murdered our ambassador: Blame it on American racism and apologize to the the Islamic terrorists for provoking them with an offensive video.

I know it isn't the Soviet Union anymore, but no one has told Putin. Back in the 80s (70s?) there were a series of kidnappings in the ME of foreign military and spook personnel. One group kidnapped a big Soviet person and made demands. The Soviets grabbed one of the kidnapper's relatives and send pieces of him home. The big Soviet person was released within hours.

Brutal? Yes. Effective? Yes.

Whoever is behind these attacks needs to realize that Putin still thinks he is running the Soviet Union and the KGB.

We are against Assad for the same reason we were against Libyas’ Gaddafi and Egypts’ Mubarak. All three kept the Muslin Brotherhood (terrorists) from taking power. Under Obama we switched sides on the war on terror. We even have the CIA and US Army arming and training terrorists in Syria (and Iraq).
