I absolutely do not like the idea that 540 unelected, unknown people have the power to determine who is going to be president.

Actually, it is 538, and they are not unelected since each state's slate of electors (38 in the state of Texas) is elected by the respective states as provided for by the laws of the states. This is the process specified in the Constitution for electing the POTUS and VPOTUS. You might as well say "I absolutely do not like the constitution..."

The constitution has a process for amending it. It’s been done many times before.
