Gunmen ambushed Jordanian police in a series of attacks Sunday, including at a Crusader castle popular with tourists, killing seven officers, two local civilians and a woman visiting from Canada, officials said.
At least 27 people were wounded in one of the bloodiest attacks in Jordan in recent memory.
The standoff between Jordanian special forces and armed men holed up inside the castle continued after nightfall Sunday, several hours after the first shooting. Government officials declined comment on local news reports that the attackers had taken hostages who were later freed.
Shots could still be heard at the scene on Sunday evening, and security forces fired tear gas to flush out the gunmen.
The shootings were the latest in a series of attacks that have challenged the pro-Western kingdom's claim to be an oasis of calm in a region threatened by Islamic extremists.

In October I returned to the States after spending about four months in Amman, Jordan. Friendly people, interesting city, insane drivers, and really expensive malls. This coming on the heels of those Special Forces Soldiers being killed at Prince Faisal Airbase is hopefully not a trend. The Jordanians don't mess around with terrorists. As one Jordanian Armed Forces officer told us, if a person is even suspected of terrorism then they're basically disappeared.
We traveled through Jordan from Amman to Petra and back a couple years ago...just us with a moozlum driver. We wouldn’t do that now.
Jordan ended up with a bunch of “Palestinian” refugees. They have been a tremendous source of social unrest. Jordan would be much better off without them. There are several reasons nobody wants the “Palestinians.” (It’s in quotes because there are no Palestinians. They are all from different areas and settled there after WW1.)
1. After the ‘48 war the losing Arab states wanted to keep the Palestinian refugees in camps so they would always be a political pawn. The theory was they would out populate the Israelis and take over.
2. The Arab states really hate Arabs who are of a different sect, Sunni vs. Shia vs. Alawite vs. Druze, etc. Even if they are of the same sect they are from different clans.
3. The sudden influx of a diverse group would cause problems in the Arab states, similar to what Jordan is suffering now.
4. And, really, why should they spend money on people who aren’t relatives and aren’t wanted? That’s what the West if for.

Yeah. Lets go on a vacation to Jordan. What could go wrong?
I saw quite a few Westerners in Amman. Nobody batted an eye. A fair number of the Jordanians spoke English, too.
I even got to eat a bacon cheeseburger (real bacon) in a restaurant while I chugged a mug of beer and smoked a cigar while watching the Olympics.
Try doing that in America.

What about the fighting-age male “trapped victims of war” being evacuated from Aleppo? This is not the first attack (ex: Egypt, Turkey, Iraq) since they’ve been leaving there.

Turkey has been sending them to Europe. They are soldiers in an invasion. They don’t even have to fight, just breed more Muslims. Practically all the West is at under replacement rate. To stay even in population they need a replacement rate of 2.2 or so. The Westerners replacement rate is much lower than that. Muslim replacement rate is as high as 6-9 (per breeding pair.)
When they reach about five percent of the population they start creating keep out zones and threatening non-Muslim women with acid and assaults. You see a sudden explosion in female genital mutilation. After a while, it will become 100% Muslim. The Hindu Kush is almost all Muslim. Before the Muslim invasion it was 100% Hindu. Kush means “kill.”
