How to cover a president’s pronouncements when they are both provocative and maddeningly vague? Does an early-morning tweet amount to a planned shift in American policy? Should news outlets, as some readers argue, ignore clearly untrue tweets, rather than amplify falsehoods further?

By what standard is ‘news’ news? Is there a required truth content, or as much guaranteed content as Chinese food products?
I take it that the concept of “News” exists only in the MSM? If it’s not originated from the MSM it isn’t “News”?

This is a problem for the MSM, but also an opportunity. Think of it, Trump can tweet, and they can infer whatever they want from the tweet.
It is what they do anyway with actual words on video that come out of someone’s mouth, now they can do it with text too!

What the MNM is trying to lie about is that if you don’t get your news from them then it can not be news.
This is because Trump is making them as obsolete as the VCR by going directly to the social media.
The liars at the big networks just financially castrated themselves with the anti-Trump propaganda they have been trying to pass off as news for the last year. They got caught by history and exposed as the liars they are.
The biased MNM is now struggling for financial survival but they are going to fail.
Whatever the president says tweets etc is NEWS. Trump is NOW the only acting president we have.
How can Charlie Rose tag a Trump twitter as false? Charlie is an empty box of rocks. Throw in Gail and Norah and you still have an empty box of rocks.
Sheesh, what a bunch of drama queens! Judge his tweets like you would any other communication from a President. If it`s June 15th and Trump tweets `Happy Flag Day` you might not want to make it front page news. If he tweets a pick for a cabinet appointment - different story. Either way, don`t worry about it, because you don`t get to decide what`s newsworthy anymore. If it`s newsworthy and you choose not to cover it, the word will still get out. Stop pretending you`re still relevant.
And there is some of the same attempts at censorship right here as astute FReepers are forced to report news from blogs, lesser known sources, facebook and tweets because the lame stream media refuses to publish that which is inconsistent with their agenda.
I have posted some articles here that are ridiculed because of the source. But the facts were true. The ‘newcomers’- aka islamic invaders, were living by invitation in a spectacular 400 year old church in Sweden while trashing and desecrating the chapel with bodily waste and sex acts. Under ordinary times, this article should be given heightened status. However, it is suppressed because the public revulsion would be so great that people awaken and then they act against their invasion by inbred 7th century barbarians.
There is a reason why some Europeans have not rejected their invasion. They are not allowed free speech. They are not all willingly allowing their invasion and eventual annihilation. Authorities track down those with dissenting views and seize phones and laptops. Especially in Germany. Stasi is alive and well.
The NYT is so biased. They write these articles as partisan commentators - not objective journalists. They have learned nothing.
Speaking of “quandaries”,NYT, you have a weekday circulation of only about a half a million, vs. President Trump’s 16,000,000 twitter following? That’s certainly a “quandary”, right NYT?

I agree...but I also suspect the reason that Trump is still allowed on Twitter is that they’re smart enough to think of the consequences if they try to ban him.
Trump will simply find another forum...and his 17+ million follows will migrate with him. It’s nice to see those left-wing a-holes hemmed in by financial needs.
Let me ask a comparable question about Obama.
Remember the first couple of years when he was on TV almost every night? Grabbing prime time, screwing up the network’s programming. Even though they loved him, they got sick of it, and eventually it stopped being news.
I predict the same will happen with Trump, if he overtweets. It will have diminishing impact.

If the NYT publishes it... there might be a smidgeon of truth depending on the writer. Or the exact opposite may be the truth. That’s why they have just laid off a good part of their staff and are renting out 8 floors in their NYT building to survive.
Their new tenant should be a pet store that specializes in breeding snakes and live rats to feed them.
The legacy media ignored the content of WikiLeaks and we went around them. Of course, their narrative is they DID cover WiwkLeaks. Just ask President Bobo.
Now they are regrouping, devising ways to prevent it from happening again. in 2020 you will see Twitter and Facebook blocking non-Democrat approved messages under the guise of protecting us from “Fake News”.
