Kim's nukes can hit Europe: Worst fears about North Korea PROVED by photo

EUROPE is within range of Kim Jong-un’s weapons, senior government sources have confirmed.

By Michael Havis / Published 17th December 2016

Top military officials have warned that North Korea is now able to attach nuclear warheads to missiles.

It’s long been disputed how far the rockets can travel, with tests suggesting a range of a few thousand kilometres.

But a South Korean government briefing, attended by Daily Star Online, revealed that the distance is likely to be far greater.

Lee Sang-hwa, director general of the South's North Korean nuclear affairs bureau, briefed reporters in Seoul last month.

He cited the opinion of US general Joseph Dumford that the missiles posed a direct threat to the US homeland.

His presentation therefore argued that “Europe is also within range” and the whole NATO alliance with it.

Mr Lee did not elaborate on his claim, and neither he nor the foreign ministry have responded to emails for clarification.

The title is misleading. On the other hand, maybe they can fit a nuclear warhead to their rocket, and send it to space to stay in a stable orbit circling around the globe. Then they can threaten that they will initiate re-entry anytime they want. It is probably totally ineffective as a weapon for a host of technical reasons, but quite useful for terrorizing the world.

But can it hit a golf course in Hawaii?

Yup. Besides, any missile site that posed an actual threat could be, and I expect would be, easily taken out. I can’t imagine Beijing would be happy either with Kim’s Young ‘un lobbing nuke missles around.

Maybe the Euros should get serious about 2% of their GDP to NATO.

Well, Europe has a use for those expensive American missile defense systems after all.

This sounds ominous. Looking closely at the rockets I noticed in small print acme rocket company which is the same one that Wile E. Coyote uses.

Not on the fly. But the second shot is only a 9-iron and you’re on the green.

With the critical, and failure prone, initial boost phase over China and Russia on a NK to Europe trajectory... they’ve got to love the idea of playing fallout catcher for a failed launch. How reliable are those TD2’s? Can they really loft RV weight that far? Falling short is, well, Moscow?

A photo ain’t much proof, really.

Didn’t Colin Powell prove all sorts of things with photos, that turned out to be false?

No, Saddam moved them all to Syria.

Where do you think all those Syrian "chemical weapons" came from? Russia destroyed them to keep them out of the hands of ISIS.

There are also satellite photos of the truck convoys and tire tracks.

They did it while the UN was frigging around for months deliberating.

If you can achieve orbit, you can hit any point on earth. A “minimum energy trajectory” connecting any two points on earth always uses less energy than an orbital trajectory.

They will get it right someday. And when that happens, expect them to try and blackmail every GD country they can think of.

Then, let Iran get them and watch what happens.

The Japanese had no problem flying airplanes into our ships in WW2, so these bastards have no problem killing everything they want.

So they need more work to get it in orbit. I just thought, psychologically speaking, nuke(s) orbiting around the Earth, hovering overhead, ready to come down and vaporize you would be more terrifying to general public than some missile launched from a location inside N. Korea.

I believe what Lonesome meant with "If you can achieve orbit, you can hit any point on earth" is: if you have a rocket system powerful enough to get you to orbit, then you have one powerful enough to reach any point on Earth via a ballistic re-entry trajectory.

The ballistic approach is better than having a nuke in orbit, since you can design a specific ballistic trajectory for any target. If you have a nuke in orbit, it would take a lot of energy to have the nuke re-enter and it would need to have precision maneuvering ability to vector itself to the target. The orbit will constrain you to targets near your ground track and you may not fly over your target for many days.

I was assuming that N. Koreans wouldn't mind lack of precision as long as they can send it to some general area with large population. Their weapon program is always geared to deliver maximum psychological effect. There is no way they can win a war with this nuke.
