Possibly thinking a major U.S. aid package had been terminated, an enraged Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte said bye, bye to America in retaliation Saturday and threatened to dissolve an agreement that allows U.S. troops to visit the Philippines.
The Millennium Challenge Corporation, a U.S. government aid agency, did not actually cancel the aid. Instead, the agency deferred a vote on the renewal of aid for the Philippines subject of a further review of concerns around rule of law and civil liberties.
Duterte won the presidential election earlier this year largely based on his promise to aggressively target drug dealers and criminals.
Philippine police and vigilantes have killed at least 3,600 people for drug use and drug sales since Duterte took office at the end of June.
We can survive without American money, Duterte said, but you know America you might also be put to notice. Prepare to leave the Philippines. Prepare for the eventual repeal for the abrogation of the Visiting Forces Agreement.

I beg to differ. DU30 is not overwhelmingly supported by the Filipinos. How is the 16 million who elected him overwhelming in a country counting more than 100 million people? He got exactly 39.01% of the votes and I sense a lot of buyer’s remorse around me....
Yes, the doors are not kicked in at random. The targets are found in a list and the police or paid vigilantes visit the “target’s” home. There are many reports documenting the killings of unarmed targets. Nobody knows exactly how many are shot due to the “target” drawing first. In any case it is troubling to see the suspicious low number of police being injured or killed in such raids.
There is nothing “sensationalist” with documenting DU30’s war against drugs. The people found dead in the streets with a piece of cardboard around their neck saying “drug dealer” are real.
Some dealers and crooked politicians killed by vigilsntes here.
the town drug rehab center is around the corner.
the globalists gave a reward to DeLima for her opposition to drug killing...but she has been implicated in getting bribes from dealers, collected from her driver who is her lover.
Dutertes next move is to change the courts so he can prosecute the big shots. Right now, they dely and delay for years and then the courts throw out the charges because no one will testify.
Obama has been pushing the rights of everyone but the people here...gay rights, abortion rights, drug dealer rights, etc.
This latest tirade by Duterte wasvafter hearing a report that aid money would be withheld because of the killings.
Over half the killings are vigilante killings, often payback.
but the murder rate is lower here than in Mexico, or even in Chicago.
Are any of your "various sources" the actual Filipino people or are they media outlets?
Comments from the real people who have replied on this thread seem counter to your "various sources" reports which sound similar to our US "Hands Up, don't shoot" agenda driven fake news.
