President-Elect Donald Trump is back-pedaling on earlier claims that President Obama's birth certificate is a fraud. Now one of Trump's biggest supporters, outgoing Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, is making headlines once again over the issue.
The sheriff, who's been at odds with the administration for years, says he's investigating the legitimacy of Obama's birth certificate since 2012. Now Arpaio is set to make another announcement in that ongoing probe on Thursday afternoon.

If they can prove the birth certificate was forged, that would be impeachable but wouldn’t prove he was ineligible. You’d also have to show he was born outside the US.

I’m not sure how to say this without some Latin, but stripping Obama completely of any shred of respect he could still have may turn on legal phrases like ultra vires: ‘beyond authority’ and distinguishing actions void ab initio: `void from the beginning’ from voidable actions.
As you say, his actions were valid because he was clothed with authority. But if he was a fraud his actions ex officio were fraudulent as well, wouldn’t you say? Regardless, Trump is going to reverse much of what he did as soon as possible.

as a political matter, if Sheriff Arpaio has evidence that Obama is a fraud, the GOP-e shysters (you know who they are) must retire to and sulk in their tents instead of doing what they do best: fighting conservatives, while Trump is supercharged to pitch Obama’s agenda into the garbage in a summary manner. Trump can begin implementing his own agenda that much sooner.
Obama should be impeached if Joe has some relevant and material evidence that Obama was ineligible.
If it’s just a dog-and-pony show, then Joe should fold his tent and go away.
