DC marching bands want no part in Trump's inauguration

For the first time in 20 years, no Washington, DC, marching band will perform in the presidential inauguration.

The bands that have performed at the last five inaugural parades — plus all other local groups — have not applied to participate in President-elect Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, NBC 4 Washington reports.

“I think everybody knows why and no one wants to say and lose their job,” Howard University band director John Newson, whose band marched for President Obama’s swearing-in ceremony in 2009, told the local news affiliate.

....It is not the kids you turd, it is the so called adults in charge who are acting like kids, and having a temper tantrum....

Spot on.The kids that may have marched in 2012 are gone and the current classes have none with that memory. Betting that DC public schools director made that decision and spiked any requests from band teachers/instructors, who are motivated to serving the kids.

Maybe the schools got a “heads up” from the “we will shut down the inauguration” people, and were told to stay away for their own safety. Maybe they are staying away because they were warned that there will be violence going on.

Then again, ya can't be a masked violent agitator vandal, and march down the middle of the avenue playing an instrument at the same time.

Your post # 12 is right on the mark. Do away with the parade and all the pomp and circumstances. I foresee problems, possibly bad things taking place in and around the outdoor ceremonies, parade and crowds.

The plans for disruption are already being laid by nefarious groups who have openly announced their agendas...and then we have the nut cases who will be out and about on that exciting day.

I recall the Boston Marathon too well....and things are even more dangerous and emotionally-charged right now.

Inaugural balls and private parties welcome and encouraged...entree to these events can be controlled.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Trump wasn't thinking long and hard along these lines and how to handle Inauguration Day festivities sucessfully and safely.

This announcement comes out the day after Trump meets with Jim Brown to discuss solutions to the various problems in the black community. Apparently Trump's real-life actions are still being drowned out by the "Trump is a racist" lie.

The left has gone all-in on the Trump/racist/Nazi lie, and ANYTHING he does will be cast negatively. They will not allow the truth to come out, because if it does, they are finished.

Trump could help reduce Chicago street crime by 90%, and they would criticize it. He could improve black educational performance by 50%, and they would criticize it.

About the former, they would say he was "profiling" and waging a "war on blacks." About the latter, they would say he was imposing "white values" on black children, thereby reaffirming their own racist belief that it is a hopeless task to teach black children math and proper English.

But once the Electoral College vote is in, the left will have nothing to lose, and I expect them to make good on their threat to try to "shut down the inauguration." It could get very ugly.

There will be up to 10,000 "Bikers for Trump" showing up.

I also expect that Trump will tell the DC Police Chief and City Council, that their local government exists at the sufferance of the Republican-controlled Congress, whom the Constitution vests with authority over DC, and that the DC Police BETTER keep a lid on things, or risk the consequences.

With a wink and a nod from the press, who have criticized none of these plans. For them it is a win-win: ruin Trump's inauguration, maybe even kill him, and meanwhile people will be tuning-in and buying newspapers.
