A Virginia inmate asked a federal court Wednesday to block the states plans to execute him next month with lethal injection drugs from a secret compounding pharmacy, suggesting even a firing squad would be more humane.
Attorneys for Ricky Gray said in a federal complaint that there is a serious risk that Virginia will chemically torture the man to death when it uses compounded drugs for his execution scheduled for Jan. 18. Although firing squads arent permitted under Virginia law, his attorneys argue even that method would be a more humane alternative. [ ]
Grays attorneys plan to ask Gov. Terry McAuliffe to commute his sentence to life in prison, arguing that jurors did not hear enough evidence about Grays history as a sexual abuse victim and resulting drug use before they chose to sentence him to death, The Virginian-Pilot reported this week.

id amend the law and grant him that firing squad.
but in my firing squad every gun has a live round. that bastard is not going to have any chance of living.
Probably should be executed the same way he killed his victims if he declines the chemical choice.
What efforts did the perp take to make sure that the mother, father, and two young daughters were dead (from repeated beatings) before setting their house ablaze?
The companies that make euthanasia drugs for hospitals around the world refuse to sell them for executions.
How crooked.
Not all of those hospital deaths are made in sound mind or with full consent (the insurance company will pay for the death shot but not the treatment for your cancer).
The constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishment, it does not guarantee a completely execution.
Fine, cancel the lethal injection and send him into the wood chipper instead. Feet first.
Bring back hanging.
Let him have his way, just put a bullet in his brain and be done with it.
I say...hang um high!
I truly despise the idea of executions performed by "medical" personnel. It's simply too clinical and impersonal.
Executing someone is a violent act, and the State should always be reminded that that is exactly what is happening. Such an act should never be divorced from its violent nature...
offer the inmate the same sedative that he/she offered their victim....
drop him out of an airplane, over the ocean, from about 30,000 feet....bye-bye.
I oppose public executions....just not a good idea.
This idea that an execution should be painless is crazy talk. It should not be painful for the expressed purpose of inflicting pain. The expressed purpose is their death, if they experience a little pain in accomplishing that, oh well. Obviously no concern for his victims and what they suffered at his hands.
This POS got more life after the murders than two of his victims lived. He should have been executed the day after he was sentenced to death. The wages of sin is death.
Well, ... I suppose there are always the Executional Hanging and various Guilotinic methods if those drugs and Firing Squad methods don’t work out.
What BS, just OD them on Morphine. Or the same assisted suicide drugs they are trying to use on chronically ill patients, they have brainwashed into thinking it’s a way out.
So shoot him.
So shoot him.
The fact that it's not commonly used for execution is proof that both democrats and republicans are playing the public on the issue.
