Armstrong: It's not fair, but black politicians have to be better
Philly.com ^ | 12/13/2016 | Jenice Armstrong

African American politicians are held to a higher standard. It's not fair, but it's the way it is.

Black corporate executives and lawyers also have to work twice as hard to get the same respect and recognition as their peers. It's that old saying I learned at Howard University: "You have to be twice as good to go half as far."

In public service, the level of accountability is much higher. And former U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah really let us down.

He shamed his office.

He failed the public trust.

He disgraced his city.

His conviction will forever eclipse any good that he ever did.

As a black politician, he knew better from the start.

"Black people in any profession . . . we have to make sure that we go above and beyond the concept of dotting every i and crossing every t," attorney Michael Coard said yesterday. "This is America. And there are things that white folks in America, elected officials or not, can get away with that black folks can't ... stuff that is wrong, stuff that looks wrong, and stuff that might be wrong."

And it goes beyond politics. Just look at what happens to everyday citizens.

Has he considered that it just helps to be a Clinton when escaping the consequences of corruption?

No, Janice. The black politician has to be honest, trustworthy, and not racist.

Yes, we know y’all are always “held to ‘higher standards’”

See any “affirmative action” candidate

As usual, if you want the truth just take anything that spews forth from the mouth of a leftist and turn it around 180 degrees. Poof. Instant truth.

The black community tolerates black thugs.

Marion Barry snorted coke and was re-elected by his constituents.

Just play the race card when a black public official is found breaking the law.

MSM has been far tougher on Trump than on Fattah.

Well then in that case I would suggest that they start electing black politicians with IQ’s in the triple digits. It would be a refreshing change from Hank Johnson, Sheila Jackson Lee and Maxine Waters.

If that's true, it's because of discrimination (affirmative action). Get rid of affirmative action, and no one "of color" will ever have to refute a presumption that they got a position because of their color, potentially in preference to a less favored group such as whites or Asians. But....since you'll never do that, we know you're a hypocrite, so....SHUT UP

Yes, black politicans need to be better than those in the Rat party. A good start would be a person with Integrity, Honest, Trust-worthy, educated, and had common sense. There are and have been such in the R party.

Oh, you mean like how America elected a completely unqualified half-black guy for POTUS twice, with a ton of white guilt and PC brainwashing contributing to that, is THAT the guy who was better?

That’s pretty funny. Imagine Obama was lilly white. He would not have even one the state senate race. A white guy with his accomplishment record would not have won the presidential primary, nor would have he even been a senator.

i.e. what a crock. The opposite is true.

With the exception of the new senator from South Carolina, black politicians are a sorry-assed lot.

If so why is it hat blacks only have to get 65% on a test to pass and others have to get 90%.
See LA fire dept. and other jobs.

Or maybe "you have to work twice as hard because you got twice as far as other people with your same qualifications because of affirmative action and now nobody think you really earned it."

The article and author are just plain stupid logic wise, so I checked the comments.

Seems the locals have nicknamed Philly.com as Philly Pravda and four authors as habitual lying shills (including Armstrong). They have discerned the purpose of the piece as clickbait for advertiser revenue.

Kinda funny.
