It was an honor to have been considered for Secretary of State of our great country. My discussions with President-elect Trump have been both enjoyable and enlightening. I have very high hopes that the new administration will lead the nation to greater strength, prosperity and peace.
In your scenario I would rather have Sessions’ approval go through than Tillerson’s.
What a disappointment he made of his life and career...
It is time, past time actually, for that group of Trump traitors to grow some balls and act like Americans..
There probably isn't much more I can add to the other responses you've already gotten, but I will say this:
It takes certain unique skills to be an effective SoS. As CEO of one of the world's largest oil companies, Tillerson has had to deal with every stripe and type of bureaucrat, diplomat, minister, politician, insider, financier, banker, investor, law firm, crook, warlord, despot, and head of state imaginable. It's what a guy in that league does every day, to bring home the bacon for his company.
He is not being considered by Trump because of his ideological or political purity. Trump, as any experienced CEO does, is looking at the man's skill set, aptitude, track record, and willingness to tackle a tough job for the good of the group - in this case, the American people, and his boss's political goals.
I think Tillerson very well understands what he's walking into, and knows that his personal views on issues unrelated to the office of SoS will be off the table for him, during his tenure, should he be confirmed.
Trump will eat Rubio alive if he tries to block the agenda. I actually hope he does try, but I think Rubio is so craven that he won’t try to submarine a president elect with so much political juice.

Sorry, I don’t believe you can draw a direct equivalence between business and statecraft. All we can do is trust Trump on this one because the red flags are all over the place with Tillerson. And the Dems haven’t even started digging.

Trump has an excellent nose for real world talent, and knows a winner when he sees one. I totally trust his judgement on this, and his other picks.

Look, the democrats will target one or two nominees. They are saying the targets will be Sessions and the EPA guy.
Tillerson is not a politician and has a clean slate. He’ll have all the right answers at the hearing and will be confirmed with overwhelming support.
