Great segment!
That’s one of the guys I like to hear from. Did he mention Bolton?
He didn’t mention Bolton but really likes Tillerson’s talent and experience.
I think Bolton is as sharp as they come.
I don’t know enough about Tillerson to have an opinion. But was struck by how Rubio and McCain, came out expressing great concerns and doubt about him. I would expect that from Chuck Schumer but not Republican senators.
“was struck by how Rubio and McCain, came out expressing great concerns and doubt about him..”
That’s about as good an endorsement as one can ask for.
Excellent - thanks for posting this.
I did go back and watch the video and can see more clearly the description of the position. I watch Kerry run all over the place making deals...like Iran, the Climate Deal....doing what the President says...no matter the consequences.
He’s not Romney or Petraeus so I’m ok with him!
think i read somewhere Bolton as undersecretary
Which prompts me to ask, what's in it for Newt?
Trump is clearly looking for a Chief Negotiator rather than a Chief Bureaucrat. That alone would set off the concern trolls who think THEY are the smartest people in any room they happen to be in. Trump and Tillerson will come up with the strategy and Tillerson will make it so. You don’t go from running the worlds largest petro company (and #2 overall) to running the State Dep’t just to push paper and ride on jets, he’s done that his entire career. You go to make a difference in the course of history.
Great interview. Newt at his best.
Trump is clearly looking for a Chief Negotiator rather than a Chief Bureaucrat.
The problem is Trump isn’t negotiating an oil deal here. Even considering Putin’s BFF for Sec. of State will have real world consequences. If Trump is not careful we will get into the situation we have with the kenyan where nobody trusts the United States. That’s not how to advance his agenda and is certainly not good for business.
I hate that FREEPERS fall for that fraud Bolton. I can’t stand him. He sucked at the UN. He was supposed to close the dang place down but instead made it stronger. He failed miserably.
Rubio and McCain should be arrested, tried and convicted for accessory to murder.
Tillerson impresses, but questions arise when he opposed sanctions against Russia when they invaded Crimea. Judgment clouded by business interests?
What do you think is “in it for Newt”?
I laugh out loud when I hear someone on the TV say that Testy McPain or Linda Graham are against Tillerson.
It brings to mind something someone on FR wrote in a comment on another thread. "If yer agin em, then Im fer em."
I wondered that, plus he has said he believes the whole climate change thing and that carbon taxes would be helpful.
