President-elect Donald J. Trumps choice for Secretary of Labor seemed to renounce his former positions on immigrationin which he supported foreigners over American workers for jobsin a new statement on Saturday, seemingly admitting he was previously wrong.

None of the quotes used against him imply that he preferred foreigners to Americans, if that is all there is here this is a LIE.
Saw that posted in McDonalds in Nevada.
Now take into the context of his comments about some Americans not willing to do certain jobs and then look to the goofiness running amuck in our schools from pre-school through graduate degree courses. We can fill pages of stories of SJW’s and “snowflakes” but think for some silly reason they are standing in line for a minimum wage job flipping burgers or taking orders for them?
I can take a certain amount of his comments as honest truth as someone who finds that the pervasive attitude is they are entitled to what some call a job but they consider it play time while getting paid for it. There is a certain undeniable truth to his words.
Then we take the latest craze of trying to make a minimum wage a living wage for a family of four and was it not the Carl’s Jr. franchise being the first to jump out and say they were going to set into motion the plan to go as automated as possible? Sounds like a guy who is looking out more for the share holders than having a soft spot for illegals. Those are action plans for stability that will never be found in the revolving door of constant stream of low skilled workers who hang around as little as possible.
The reality is those who consider themselves at the top of their limitations ladder are demanding more and more to sustain them on their ground level stepping stool while bemoaning being challenged to get on a real ladder and finding the way to climb it. Again, the left aspires to get the masses all in one simply definable box so they can sit on their ivory thrones and get the serfs of the Lowest Common Denominator being stupid enough to keep them throwing out the bread crumbs while promising raisin bread someday that never comes.
Venezuela, Cuba, and the list goes on and on.
“We herd sheep, we drive cattle, we lead people. Lead me, follow me, or get out of my way.” - George S. Patton
That was then, this is now.
The fact that many Repubs in the Congress have put together a "delayed deportation/amnesty not-so-lite) bill for him to peruse should tell us that they know he's serious as hell and they don't agree with him....
Puzder is both smart and pragmatic. Unlike some other restaurant chains, he ignores the media advice on healthy eating put out by leftist special interest groups, in favor of giving his customers what they want. While this may not seem that dramatic, compared to the rest of the industry it is impressive.
No matter what the initial picture seems to be I have come to assume that Trump always knows what he is doing and that initial impressions can be very wrong.
...when parents of graduating kids with the same skill set were left to serve drinks and beef stew at Ruth Crist Steakhouse. They should have instead applied to Ruth's Chris. There are quite a few more of those than Ruth Crist, and they pay better.
Rust's Apple Crispic??
...and the foreign workers VOTE.
We shouldn't belittle people who want a wage that will sustain them...The ladder you speak of has the top rungs lobbed off...
There are tons and tons of college graduates working at these fast food joints and other minimum wage jobs...They are there because of the ridiculous policy of hiring illegal and green card workers at drastically reduced wages that a college graduate should expect to receive...And this new labor secretary was/is all for that policy...The less he and his cronies can pay labor, the more money that goes into his pocket...
Hopefully, in spite of the SoL, Trump will clear out the illegals so these college graduates can get to work where they should be...And school students will once again fill the ranks of the lower paying jobs and be happy to do so...
YOU HAVE NO CREDIBILITY OR SHAME.
Ranting against your fellow Americans who just voted in Trump? Nice.
We actually had CEO’s who made American workers train their foreign replacements before the Americans were fired.
Yea, right, I’m ranting against people who voted for Trump, as to take from that that I didn’t. Got it.
I was simply pointing out the context of why the proposed Labor Secretary said something years ago that we all know there was some smoke in that statement. Maybe you find it easier painting with a broad brush and maybe that is your problem with the interpretation of what I was pointing out.
when this whole $15/hr thing started to be propagated, I said then that they have finally crossed the Rubicon to justify the move to automation. Critical mass was reached and what I, any many more, predicted has transpired. I don’t want college grads having to even consider a minimum wage job, especially those from engineering disciplines. The only fix to this is all wrapped up in the Trump agenda. Refusing to acknowledge the reality of the times 4-6 years ago and having to operate within them at the time will only make them even more pervasive longer than confronting them head-on.
“f the government is importing cheap labor I have to go along even if I dont like it. The other option is to close down.”
Horse manure. That’s just an excuse used to commit illegal activities and pad the bottom line a bit. And essentially commit treason.
American citizens first. We can still be part of a global economy and we should be; but our nations interests first.
I feel pretty confident that if he isn't singing the same song, from Trump's songbook, Trump won't hesitate to replace him.
First, I direct your attention to the word seemingly in the article. This use of the passive adverb did not pass muster in a fifth grade English composition assignment when I was young.
Seemingly admitting he was previously wrong? I suppose any time someone changes a position or a behavior, a sloppy logician can make such a statement.
If I I choose one route when driving to work for ten years, and then switch to another route, am I seemingly admitting I was previously wrong?
Perhaps, to the easily persuaded and to those who have no reason to respect my navigation skills. But there are plenty of other possible explanations to explain such a change in my driving behavior, including changes to the old route that might impact speed, safety, comfort or aesthetics, similar but opposite changes to the new route, changes to my priorities, or even changes to the location of my home or my work.
The most likely reason for Puzder to change his position on cheap foriegn labor is the profound change in his job, his mission and his alliegence. Whereas he previously served at the pleasure of corporate stockholders, he now serves at the pleasure of the American people.
His least likely reason for changing his position is that he was wrong before, since he was NOT wrong before.
This is the exact same logical fallacy as has been attempted against Donald Trump himself: he supported crony capitalist policy positions and crony capitalist politicians in the past as a businessman which are seemingly at odds with the pro American worker positions he holds today as president elect.
Therefore he is either lying now or he was lying then, wrong now or wrong then. Which is it? Will the real Trump please stand up? We know this is a false dichotomy - he wasnt wrong or lying then, he simply had different obligations as a businessman - to maximize shareholder profits.
It is the same for Puzder and for any prior businessmen. If he says hell fight on behalf of the American worker then I say give him a chance - if he fails - then fire him and fire Trump too.
“I posted on another Thread that the Carls Jr. Restaurants where I live all use E Verify for all their Hiring.”
Starting 1/20/2017, ALL businesses better start using E-Verify for ALL prospective hires unless the bosses and CEOs want to go to prison.
And if the illegals subsequently use identity theft to obtain jobs illegally, then they become qualified for deportation as criminals above and beyond simply being illegal immigrants.
I've lived and traveled all *over* the US; and most places have a large number of heavily-spanish accented fast food workers / janitorial staff.
Including major office buildings, and fast food places.
Maybe there's so much money outside of DC (e.g. Fairfax) that it's different...but, admittedly, Fairfax is not really "central" va.
Which is why i asked.
