Donald Trump is a fascist.
When you call somebody a fascist, you can mean any number of things. Often, it means no more than “somebody I don’t like.” It is an all-purpose epithet, usable by anyone against everyone from university deans to Fox News anchors. For that reason, the label should be used sparingly — saved for special occasions. As with “Nazi” or “Hitler,” it is often said that in any discussion, the first person reduced to using such a word has lost the argument. It’s ridiculous to compare any living person to Hitler or Mussolini.

If Kinsley doesn’t even know what a fascist is, think about the zero information Trump haters who think Trump’s police will be lining them up against a wall and shooting them. I remember the days when they called Ronald Reagan “Rayguns,” and people thought that President Reagan will be zapping the opposition with laser weapons mounted on helicopters.

And the term “fascist” is not reserved for “special occasions,”its an historical term.The word was largely defined historically by Professor Gilbert Allardyce, whose student I was.Knowing exactly what fascism is allows one to defend freedom and liberty with a great deal of clarity.

He has had Parkinson’s since 1993. Looks like he still does a lot of writing, but isn’t in the best shape for TV these days. He did a C-Span interview back in April.
Kinsley is an aged vegetable left too long in the lettuce crisper.
