Despite the hue and cry from some, the election of Donald Trump as President will have a positive effect on policing and citizen safety in America. And it will not, in my opinion, decrease Americans civil rights.
I believe the No. 1 civil right is to be free from harm. Though broad historical trends remain positive, were in the midst of an increase in violent crime, and more Americans are now dying from drug overdoses than from automobile accidents.
With smart and aggressive local policing encouraged by policies set by Washington, and by an example set by federal law enforcement we can turn the tide.
For eight years, the Obama administrations Department of Justice has waged a war on police. The focus has been on criminal justice reform instead of modeling intelligent strategies to push crime reduction. . .

It’s kind of like a plea bargain for local/state governments or government agencies. Basically, they get caught doing something bad, and to avoid the consequences of that, they enter an agreement that allows the feds to mandate they do certain things and appoints someone to monitor them to make sure they are complying. That monitor can go back to a judge and haul the government back before the court without having to go through the rigamarole of filing another case against them and proving it in court.
So, for example, all the states who were violating the Civil Rights Acts, Voting Rights Act, 14th Amendment, etc decades ago are still under consent decrees. One of the stipulations is that they can’t make certain changes to their election laws without the federal government approving. The federal government has no legal authority to insist on approving such things, but since they entered into the consent decree voluntarily, they have given the feds that power.
The Republic has been replaced by a Mercantile Fascism based on contract law. Needless to say, President Donald John Trump understands contract law like no other President we have ever had. Almost seems planned! :-)
I wuld prefer he uncuff the Militias.
Whether a cop walks or rides when he says stop-they best stop. When a cop says keep your hands up in plain view and you do not-he has a right to suspect you are reaching for a weapon. It is high time to back our police-not punks/thugs/ gangstas, etc.
Agree 100%.
I’m just saying walking the beat is generally more effective policing than riding in a car all the time.
For one thing the police officer will have a better feel for what’s really going on in his area, who belongs there, who does not, etc., and that also enhances his instincts.
What’s more, criminal acts tend to go down when the cop is on the beat (or maybe these days two have to walk together).
Agree. With the gangstas now I think two might be to few to patrol an area. Maybe 4-6 each block in these cities.
Abolish the consent decrees and organize/reorganize the bureaucracy inside the Justice Department.
I also noticed that no matter how bad the drug overdoses get, the daily shooting of police officers, once a month jihadi attack nothing, absolutely nothing is a blow back on Obama.
