Republican presidential elector Christopher Suprun explained in an eye-opening op-ed to the New York Times on Monday why he intends to reject Donald Trump when it comes to voting as part of the electoral college.
In a column aptly titled Why I Will Not Cast My Electoral Vote for Donald Trump, the Texas paramedic revealed how he will break ranks will Republicans in an attempt to halt the president-elects road to the White House.
I do not think president-elects should be disqualified for policy disagreements. I do not think they should be disqualified because they won the Electoral College instead of the popular vote. However, now I am asked to cast a vote on Dec. 19 for someone who shows daily he is not qualified for the office,
Suprun went on to make a number of references to Hollywood, from Trumps Twitter tirades accusing the Saturday Night Live cast of bias, to Darth Vader and the Dark Side of the Force.
Rogue One, the latest Star Wars installment, arrives later this month. I am not taking my children to see it to celebrate evil, but to show them that light can overcome it, he wrote.

That’s smartist.

TDS.
It’s still around. It still lingers here, as well.
He pledged to the voters that elected him that he would vote for Trump. He trashed his credibility and honor forever.
Yeah he is a Hitlery supporter.
Agree 1000%
You can’t possibly be conservative if you are looking to receive inspiration from Hollyweird on the nature of good and evil.
He’s conservative like Free Republic is liberal.
This guy is completely clueless. How did he get into this position?
[I believe electors should unify behind a Republican alternative, an honorable and qualified man or woman such as Gov. John Kasich of Ohio. ]
This guy’s clearly more of an idiot than I thought....

You gotta find the link!
I’m from Texas and don’t want my vote diminished!
I hope he indeed has been replaced.
How did a Texas snowflake as big as this one ever become an elector?
Oh ya, everything’s bigger in Tejas.
Why have humans testify in court? Just send a letter.
Yeah, this guy is arrogant and hides behind good intentions. His siting twitter and SNL as reasons Trump isn’t a good candidate is absurd. Then he complains Trump didn’t call OSU right away is also silly. First of all, he isn’t the president yet and secondly, no one died.... Well, no victims died.
In principle I agree. However, Article 2 of the Constitution clearly requires voting by actual human electors, not allocation of electoral points. Given the political climate today, the odds of getting agreement from 2/3 of both houses of Congress and 3/4 of the states are pretty long.
I believe I read that he signed/pledged to support the chosen nominee and eventual winnner at the Texas Repub convention. Anybody? If he is in breach of that (legally binding?) he should be removed and replaced.
Not from Austin, but from Dallas:

“...Suprun is the Republican elector representing Texas 30th congressional district. He was a firefighter at the twin towers on 9/11, and is a founding member of the NeverForget911 public charity.
Late in the evening of December 5th, just two weeks before the scheduled meeting of the Electoral College, he became the first official faithless elector to publicly break ranks with Trump. ...”
And the district is “safely Democrat” per this:

In other words, he’s surrounded by loony libs.
That may explain his shift.
hey only the fourth time posted. It’s one ***** guy out of Texas that is being replaced because he is stepping down.
don’t know why people seem to want to give this guy so much coverage. I could see DU but not here
According to Article 2 of the Constitution the electors are chosen in a manner to be determined by the legislatures of the states. If the Texas legislature passed a measure replacing this douchebag with a new elector, I don’t see how it could be challenged. Whether or not the legislature will actually do this is another question entirely.
Maybe he should publish his address so a few real men could pay him a visit and persuade him to honor his commitment.
What?
