Things aren't looking good for Sears. The company is shutting down dozens of Kmart stores this month and two of its highest-ranking executives left this week in the midst of the key holiday shopping season. This comes following speculation among Sears and Kmart employees, suppliers, and several banks that the retailer will soon go bankrupt something Sears has repeatedly dismissed. Jeff Balagna, formerly Sears' executive vice president, left the company Wednesday, "in order to focus on his other business interests and pursue other career opportunities," Sears said in an SEC filing dated November 23.

K Mart was the place you didn’t want to be seen. If you saw a classmate at K Mart, the unspoken understanding was: “I didn’t see you and you didn’t see me.”
As the 1% continues to destroy middle America, there isn't a need for a store that caters to that market.
In our area that tends to be an army of eyebrow threaders and nail salons.

My mistake. I thought that the better brand bought the floundering K-Mart.
Even as I grew up in northern Illinois in the 1970s the Sears brand was beginning to fade. It is such a shame because of all the history associated with the brand.
My family even used to live a block from Sears Boulevard in Wildwood, Ill where the Sears family once lived.
And to this day, my stepfather still uses the line “where did you get your drivers license, Sears?” Many people are unaware that a person could indeed have their drivers license issued to them by Sears in the old days.
Watched my dad bend a thin drill bit from Sears made in China. Held it in his fist and used his thumb to bend it ninety degree.
That is a 180 degree experience from how they used to handle returns; just bring it in for refund or exchange, no questions asked. Amazingly stupid scenario you had to endure.
My sister and I would pour over the Christmas Wish Book looking at all the toys and other things we wanted for Christmas and would make a Christmas list that would include the page in could be found on.
Our local Sears sold more than half of their store space to Whole Foods. The only part that remained a Sears store is the part that connects to the rest of the mall.
Only thing I get/got from Sears was HEPA filters for my shop vac (still the best home vac available for people with allergies).
And lately Sears has tie-ins with the Kardashians.
No wonder they’re circling the drain!
Sears guitars (Danelectro) weren’t half bad. Certainly a kid like myself could buy one with paper route money.
My mom’s house was a Montgomery Wards house not a Sears but many near here are sears houses and still standing in good shape.
After driving through about 3 miles of typically terrible traffic, I gave up on Sears when announcements were broadcast only in Spanish. It's not going to be easy to MAGA. The local K-Mart is filled with immigrant shoppers.
BTW: Snap-On tools are also made in China now. :(
Walmart adds another kill to their list.
Dollars to donuts, our hyper-regulating federal government made that happen.
I have heard that it turned into one of the worst places to work the last 15 years. Talk about missing the boat. They had some good appliance traditions, I know I bought a number of them. They had Craftsman, vacuum cleaners etcetera. All of those things generate traffic. They even repaired a lot of their stuff. Warranty traditions were good. With all that to generate a base line of traffic they could not get their soft goods to any sort of consistency and reliability. Work garments might be the only exception.
What a lot of bone headed moves. AND it was a century old CATALOGUE company that could not figure out internet sales — DUH>
