The Coast Guard Cutter Charles David Jr. repatriated 38 Cuban migrants Thursday to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba.
These repatriations are a result of three separate at-sea migrant interdictions in the South Florida Straits. In each instance, the Coast Guard helped secure the U.S. border and prevented these sea voyages from ending in tragedy.

Ask leftists and millennial collegians why this country Cuba they admire has a continuing 50+ year history of imprisoning and executing people for simply trying to leave....
Let me get this straight.
We are “repatriating” people who LOVE America and want to be FREE, while “relocating” into our midst people who hate everything we stand for and want to kill us.
Only a democrat would think that’s a smart move.
They were trying to escape to the USA because they have not yet learned of the awful, facist, sexist, nasty, bigoted, and selfish person newly elected to become president.
They will be grateful for the repatriation. HUGE /S=
I feel bad for them. As far as I can tell, the vast majority of the CUBANS who have come here are quite like the European immigrants of the late 1800s and earlier 1900s.
They have bettered their lives and made a CONTRIBUTION to the country
“helped secure the U.S. border and prevented these sea voyages from ending in tragedy.”
Clearly this is the ONLY border we are securing.
And these voyages DID end in tragedy — the would be refugees (real ones) were returned to face punishment in Cuba.
I think it is time to end special treatment for Cubans such that if they reach US dry land they can stay here. They are trying to escape Communism, which I admire, but everyone is trying to escape something, whether it is poverty, drug violence or who knows what. Regardless of motives, intentions, work ethic etc..., the USA must control its own borders and decide who to invite and who not to.
That said, I would not forcibly return anyone to Cuba. I would hold such persons in a refugee camp until somewhere was found to take them other than a vindictive dictatorship.
West coast, Gulf coast, East coast is about to be the “other” wall. I hope the USCG has a plan.
If you build a wall they’ll find a way around it, under it, over it, through it.
“Repatriates” and “repels” are now synonyms.
The “Wet foot/Dry foot” solution would work on the Rio Grande. Instead of a wall put a net right down the middle of the river and before the illegals can reach the bank load them in boats. Transport them out Port Isabel to a waiting ship and back they go with no bureaucratic red tape.
