The capital of the world’s biggest Islamic country was the scene Friday of the latest in a series of mass demonstrations by Muslims demanding that the Christian governor of Jakarta be punished for “blasphemy.”

More than 22,000 police officers were deployed to maintain control of the “Defend Islam” rally, which drew an estimated 150,000 people.

The protesters already chalked up one victory earlier this week, when the Attorney General’s Office announced that it will proceed with a trial against Gov. Basuki Tjahaja Purnama. Unappeased, they continue to demand his immediate arrest.

The U.S. Embassy closed its consular section Friday and recommended that American citizens avoid the protest — described as “a large-scale ‘mass prayer gathering’ in central Jakarta.” …

“Site, the Muslims are revolting!”

“You’re right, Islam stinks on ice.”

Of course, the "request" is simply a recognition that the Governor should want to co-exist peacefully with his constituents. /s

Not that Obama would help. Guess which segment of Indonesian society he would sympathize with?

I’m sure Obama and the Muzzie Brotherhood helping him “vet” refugees would think he was a risk not worth taking ... and then import 50,000 of the protestors.

The REAL question is:
HOW IN THE WORLD DID A CHRISTIAN GOVERNOR GET ELECTED IN A MUSLIM COUNTRY?

According to some Indonesian news reports, he told his listeners they had been lied to by people misquoting sura 5:51. What his detractors claim he said, however, was that they had been lied to by the verse of the Qur’an itself. Further complicating the matter, police later acknowledged that a video clip which went viral on social media had been deliberately edited to make it appear that the governor was criticizing the Qur’an.

This is the trumped up blasphemy charge. It should qualify him for asylum but he'll have to wait until after our current crypto-Muslim president leaves office.

Probably perceived as a compliant dhimmi. Many Ba’athists in Syria and Iraq are and were nominal Christians.

Why should we allow Mosques when they ban churches and Synagogs?

Fake charges of “blasphemy” are very common in Islamic countries — Pakistan, especially. That is an easy way to destroy an opponent, or even a business rival or settle a quarrel.

I didn’t do a new search on this just now due to lack of time, however: I am almost certain that Obama spent a portion of his childhood in central Jakarta at a Muslim school?

Even if one gives Obama the the benefit of the doubt and concedes that he is in fact a U.S. citizen, the damage done by his childhood formation in a Moslem country clearly had a negative effect and contributed to his lack of loyalty to the U.S. This is proved by his actions and positions that have repeatedly undermined our well being as a nation. Open borders - really Obama? Blocking our energy independence on purpose - really Obama?

His actions to undermine us speak for themselves - this article proves that Moslem Indonesia has no love for Christians (and by extension the U.S. and the west) and there is no way Obama failed to absorb this mindset in his formative years.

There are regions and towns that are majority Christian, even in Indonesia and Iraq. People tend to group / clump in communities of the same ethnicity / religion.

Actually, he did not. He was a businessman who owned a tin smelter in Bangka, and got in as the Deputy Governor on the ticket with Jokowi, who was immensely popular. When Jokowi became President, Ahok became the governor, and the headbangers have been in a twist ever since.

Ahok is, perhaps after Ali Sadikin, the best governor Jakarta has ever had. He gets things done, as the Chinese usually do, and he has instilled some discipline in the slothful government employees. Many of the most serious problems, like flooding and traffic gridlock, are being addressed and remedied. The powers that be cannot stand him because he is confrontational and speaks the truth to people who have no familiarity with such a concept.

If Ahok loses the election in February, Jakarta goes down the tubes.

If you want to imprison people because of their words, you just might be a cultist.
If you want to kill someone because they dishonored your religion, you just might be a cultist.
If you want women killed because of what they are wearing, you just might be a cultist.
If you think it is okay to rape young boys before they reach puberty, you just might be a cultist.
If you require all young women to have their genitals deformed, you just might be a cultist.
Could go on and on. Wake up you ship of fools.
