Assume an average salary of 35k for these 1,000 jobs.

That's $35,000,000 in payroll.

How much of this is paid in taxes?

Assume a 15% bracket that's $5,250,000 in Federal Taxes

Assume a 6% local sales tax...that's 2,100,000 in local taxes.

That leaves around $25,900,000 of income to be spent at local businesses in that area.

Sounds like a decent deal to me.

You can go on with that multiplier...now, inagine what we’d be paying in unemployment and other welfare if they lost those jobs...and it won’t be so easy for them to find new ones

Indiana officials agreed to give United Technologies Corp. $7 million worth of tax breaks over 10 years to encourage the company’s Carrier Corp. unit to keep about 1,000 jobs in the state, according to people familiar with the matter.

That's always been the answer to the problem of U.S. businesses moving their operations out of the U.S.: stop taxing them out of profitability and strangling them with excessive regulations. Most Republicans understand this, and clearly Donald Trump does, too. What a refreshing change to have a President-elect who's willing to act on it!

That’s $35,000,000 in payroll.

But the TRUE COST to the employer once they pay HALF of YOUR Social Security and Medicare Taxes and Workers Comp, Disability,Unemployment Insurance... will be almost DOUBLE!!

Realistically their Payroll Cost should be around $60 Million using your assumptions.

If this kinda thing worked, Upstate NY would be flouishing. It’s not. And won’t be. This bribe w/OPM is indeed a bandaid. And an insult to voters’ intelligence.

Thank you for doing the math.

That’s where I was going.

I don’t have the numbers right now, but wind farm developers demanded and got huge tax breaks from locals and feds

Now add in the economic impacts of the $16M in upgrades Carrier is looking to do, and you see why this probably makes sense for Indiana.

I read yesterday that the average payroll was 50,000 but your 35,000 still shows the incredibly positive side of this “investment in the future.”

EXACTLY

IF the Democrats ever learn how money is taxed /spend in this country, maybe they can get the economy going again.

Takes a real business person to understand all the pieces of the puzzle.

For years my brother—who had his own company with about 65 employees said—NOT one in 1000 are worthy of signing the FRONT of a paycheck.
