People, stop this.

8 years ago Obama took office with an EVEN LARGER majority in both houses. There was talk of a permanent Democrat majority. There was talk of “GOP? What do they think? It doesn’t matter. They are irrelevant. Zero power.”

They over-reached.

With an even smaller majority, we could do the same.

Calm the hell down. Nothing is forever.

” Nothing is forever.”

I do agree. If there’s one thing I’ve learned by being around politics for awhile, is that things change.

But since socialism can’t work, it won’t work, and can’t go on forever. So if Dems keep pushing it, they will eventually disappear.

That’s is so true! And that is why Trump MUST succeed. Because if he does, the GOPe is finished for at least a generation just like the RATs. Trump’s overarching goal has to be to completely destroy what is now the Republican Party or in the alternate, kill it and replace it with something with values akin to his.

The thing that scares me is that the GOP has had control of the House for years and did absolutely NOTHING with it. The GOP has an unprecedented opportunity now to do something with its power. Most people...on both sides of the isle...think gov’t spending is for re-election, not the people. Otherwise, one is hard-pressed to explain cell phones for deadbeats. The GOP needs to cut taxes, cut spending, get the gov’t out of the marketplace and stand back and watch what happens when you don’t have an EPA-like gov’t stymieing the free market at every turn.

You are certainly correct. However, Trump is a wild card. If he delivers, the GOP stands to gain *more* in 2018 with all of the Senate seats up in solid red states. If he does a superb job, the GOP could gain a couple of seats in the “purple” tier. I think a milquetoast Republican would have meant traditional midterm losses. Trump is (or I should say appears to be) of a different breed.

This “winning” will certainly come to an end someday. Everything is cyclical. However, I have a feeling that things are just getting started for our side :-). People, in general, are completely sick and tired of the status quo.

There are enormous structural changes. The Democrats won the majorities in 2008 because of their control of the establishment media. Their overreach was shown to the American people because the establishment media’s hold on the infomation flow was broken.

Most of what Republicans want is wanted by the vast majority of Americans. It is not an overreach. As Rush has noted many times, it is the Republican brand that has been demonized by the Democrats and their establishment media, not conservative ideas.

The establishment media will attempt to lable Trump’s efforts as “overreach”, but it has lost a lot of the ability to control the information flow.
