Mitt Romney speaks well of Donald Trump after dinner meeting

After a dinner meeting with Donald Trump at Jean-Georges restaurant in New York, Mitt Romney delivered a glowing review of the president-elect’s leadership during the transition.

Mr. Romney, who was invited to the dinner purportedly for a follow-up interview for the job of secretary of state, described it as a “wonderful evening” and said that he was “impressed” with Mr. Trump’s handling of his upset victory in the election.

“We had another discussion about affairs throughout the world and these discussions I’ve had with him have been enlightening, and interesting, and engaging,” Mr. Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, told reporters outside the restaurant.

Mr. Romney said that from what he’s seen of Mr. Trump’s leadership during the transition, he was optimistic that “America’s best days are ahead of us.

Make Romney in charge of air pollution caused exclusively by Irish setters(also collies ) strapped to the roofs of ‘family truckster’ wagons

I sincerely hope that Romney won’t be chosen for this cabinet position. He has proven that he can’t be trusted by virtue of his past criticism and attempted sabotage of Trump’s run for President.

Once a traitor...always a traitor AND HE CANNOT BE TRUSTED to carry out the business of Secretary of State without using the position for possible political self-advancement in the future AGAINST Trump.

“Looks like this is the price of getting his agenda past Ryan. I can live with it.”

Huh? So, you believe that “you wash my hand...I’ll wash your hand” is the way to go even though the people had enough and voted Trump in office to eliminate the “go along to get along” corruption that has almost destroyed our country?

To HELL with Ryan! His days are numbered and his credibility is the same as Romney’s. The “people” will take care of the problem with him later.

Looks like this is the price of getting his agenda past Ryan.

That's what I believe too. Pence-Priebus-Ryan-Romney...not good if what I'm thinking is actually what's going on. Just like recycling Bush-era retread Elaine Chao to get McConnell on board.

Don’t give Romney anything... he turned into a worm. And being devoutly religious is a description that does not fit either Romney or Ryan. Their ‘fruit’ does not speak ‘Godly’.

I so want Trump to drain the swamp.. and looks like he is using some of the swamp to get other things he wants. Trump needs to explain himself as soon as possible... to let us know why he is using swamp people in his administration.

And please don’t let turncoat romney have anything.... he is not to be trusted.. but most in Washington are not to be trusted. Swamp people living in swamp land.

FWIW, Romney has the endorsement of the New York Times locked up.

Typical snide nastiness from the Times. Makes me want to puke.

If Trump picks a man who attacked his character in the disgusting and despicable ways that Romney did I will certainly lose respect for him. I was one of the millions of “deplorables” that put him in the White House. He was put there to “drain the swamp” and get rid of the old order. Romney absolutely tried to destroy Trump. That Trump would pick this ass over Giuliani or any of those that were with him and supported him from the very beginning is pathetic. Where’s the loyalty at? He expects loyalty from those that work for him but it doesn’t work the other way? It’s BS of the first degree. From the minute he chose establishment Pence, to then selecting Priebus as his COS people had better realize Trump will be more of the same of the same in Washington. Drain the swamp hell. Trump has also made the remark that Romney “looks the part” of a Sec of State. Mr. establishment RINO liberal POS Romney “looks the part” so make him your Sec of State. To hell with Mitt Romney and the horse he rode in on.

Priebus was at the dinner meeting because Trump always likes to have a second pair of eyes and ears.

Trump is smart enough to know that he was not elected to be a dictator. While he is about to undo the dictator-wannabee Obama’s executive orders, he fully realizes that the same thing could be done to him by the next president. Thus, he needs to gain his accomplishments by the legislative process, so that they will be more durable and more difficult for a future successor to undo.

All of this is to say, he has to play the hand he’s dealt . . . and I have complete confidence in his ability to parlay whatever hand he’s dealt into a winning hand. If he has to “play” the inclusion of RINOs to get done what needs to be done, so be it. If it takes bringing Romney on board to grease the passage of his plans through Congress, that’s just the way it goes.

I would much rather he win with a team composed of people we don’t like than pick a “pure” team and go down to defeat.

-—You said, “If Trump picks a man who attacked his character in the disgusting and despicable ways that Romney did I will certainly lose respect for him.”——

I feel you brother, I really do. I did not vote for Romney and shudder at the thought of him almost becoming president. But I’ll tell you why I am supporting this decision and I hope you can live with it with me. He represents the best chance for real RINO involvement in the agenda. We are entering a real fight for our lives now and it is with Pelosi and Reid etc., and not Ryan and Romney, etc. Trump must coopt these people, own them and control them for the sake of the reform.

You will say that the RINO’s should play no part at all, but other than agreeing with the raw emotion what are we supposed to do?

There are three issues that we can and must do something about.
1. We must avert Obama/Hillary’s stupid war with Russia.
2. We must avert the collapse of the currency. How much longer is the dollar going to last?
3. We must reform the welfare state. We are gonna run outa money soon and it ain’t gonna be pretty!

I know what you feel brother, even if you doubt me, but if we have to banish all the RINO’s and fight and destroy THEM before we can implement the agenda, then that’s it. It’s over. The country’s too far gone. There’s no time! Fighting and winning symbolic victories over establishment Republicans is NOT what we need to be doing.

If Romney apologizes, it might have purchase with us but gets nothing for the agenda. Trump is making a play for begrudging cooperation from the GOPe. Romney cannot convert; he must keep his RINO membership in good standing, so that he can then model and encourage the cooperation that Trump wants. That may work. Mr. FlipFlop will be happy to do it.

and George Will & Mark Levin & Glenn Beck & Erick Erickson & Rick Wilson & Steve Hayes & Jonah Goldberg etc etc etc
all proved themselves to be ineffective and irrelevant in stopping Trump.

Correctomundo! Presence of the chief of staff Priebus eliminates any possibility of weasel Romney from mis-quoting Trump later.

Rudy. Not just because he IS the most loyal. But because he is the most competent at drawing the swamp. Romney will NOT drain the swamp. Romney will FIGHT draining the swamp, covertly. Hope Rudy is our next SoS. Please.

There is NEVER any doubt that Rudy will put America First. Rudy would be best SoS in modern day history. Selecting Romney would be a political calculation against what Trump ran on which was anti establishment. Romney is full on establishment. Trump ran on draining the Swamp. Rudy had proven he knows how to drain the swamp. Vs. Mitt Romney being the Swamp.

The implication is that if Romney grovels, he will be hired.

Many, MANY Americans do not want Romney hired. Millions of Republican’s voted for Trump but didn’t vote for Romney. That’s all that needs to be said.

Romney would be the worst pick ever. EVER.
