McDonald’s I think realized their error. We’ve seen some recent TV ads where they talk about McDonald’s as the world’s best first job.
One of my boys works at Chick-Fil-A. He’s only been there a few months, but he’s proven dependable and they are giving him greater responsibilities. That’s what a first job is all about.
I agree with your take on it, and I’m glad to hear that is working out for your son.
Also glad to hear McDonald’s has figured it out too.
I think those jobs are very important as an introduction to the work-force.
First jobs used to be at restaurants and gas stations. Look what happened to full service gas stations. The same will happen to fast food.
First REAL job was as pinsetter in bowling alley,
Only automation was foot treadle on deck that raised the ‘spikes’ to set the pins on.
Worked double alley, double shift while going to school and was 14 at the time.
Pay was about 6 bucks a night 30 bucks a week plus weekends more plus better tips... my father probably wasn’t making a whole lot more.
I did manage to put a derelict or two out of work though.
Had to sign up for SS AFTER I caught a pin in the ‘running lights’... EVERYBODY was scared —itless as I was so young.
