Then I think we should all contribute to a fund for their permanent relocation to Cuba. Reminds me of a Communist Party rally I attended with some German conservatives in Wiesbaden in the mid-1980s. A German friend asked me to join him and some of his friends - just for the entertainment value.
A number of speakers extolled the virtues of the economy and life in the DDR (the former East Germany). Upon being recognized, my friend stood up, held up 100,000 Deutsche Marks and stated (auf Deutsche, of course), “My family was originally from Dresden, now in the DDR and I’m permitted to visit those remaining in Dresden but once a year. This 100,000 marks is for anyone here who will live anywhere in the DDR for at least one year.” There were no takers - not a one.
Be careful what you ask for...
Interesting story.
Let’s ask those kids why border guards were stationed on the wall, and why people were trying desperately to get to the west. And why people were exuberantly celebrating when the wall was finally torn down (thank you, President Reagan).
Oh wait, they probably have no idea of these events, because they weren’t taught it in school. Reality doesn’t fit the liberal narrative.
If communism is such a paradise, wouldn’t people have been going the other way?
Who carries around 100k DM in their pocket?...............
