Authorities detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) Monday that was found in a trash bin near the U.S. Embassy to the Philippines in Manila.
There were no injuries reported during the incident. [ ]
National police chief Director-General Ronald dela Rosa said at a news conference that police believe that Maute militants could be behind what he called an attempted act of terrorism against the embassy.

I always find this “found in a trash bin” stuff interesting. Do people go through all the trash bins? Or was it suspected due to video of someone suspicious dropping it in there.
I remember one time at Costco back in the 20th century I got an entire roll of film developed that was bad. Instead of going through the hassle of going through the register and paying and then getting a full refund, I just tossed it in one of the trash cans in the store.
The next day I got a phone call saying someone found my pictures in the trash. I figured their in-store cameras saw me toss it.
Abu Sayyaf, another Islamic terrorist organization, controlling 30% of the Philippines probably did this...
