East Texans sound exactly like Appalachian Pennsylvanians.

It was due to the southward migration of Scots-Irish.

I’ve talked to plenty and they sound just like home.

:)

Texans and native Tennesseans sound much the same. My ancestor immigrated to the Appalachians from Scotland in the 1700’s during the Scottish clearances. My ancestors go all the way back to King David of Scotland myy direct ancestor fought with Washington during the Revolutionary War.

I can usually tell the different Southern accents by state but it’s hard for me to tell Texans from Tennesseans.
