Which is too bad, it would have been very interesting building that story line!

He was from Evansville and Florence Henderson was from Dale, Indiana. About 40 miles apart. The Hoosier state lost two good ones this weekend.

“was an active member in the L.A. Buddhist community.”

Oh, a barking moonbat.

Did you bark at the moon last week? Did you bark at the moon this week? If you don’t bark at the moon next week, your benefits will be terminated.

It looks like about half the “Barney Miller” cast is gone. Jack Soo (age 61) passed during the run, hmmm, I remember him getting hepatitis, requiring the rest of the cast and crew to get gamma globulin shots, Ron Carey dead at 71, Landesberg 74, and Vigoda 94 at the beginning of the year.

One that stuck with me. (I couldn't find the exact episode, so this is from memory)

Some black crook (probably a pimp or drug dealer) is giving Detective Harris grief about being a cop, etc. and Harris says, "But I've got something you'll never have?"

"What's that?"
"Credit".

After the expected audience laugh, he goes on.

"I am able to get what I want just by signing my name."

And I thought....Yeah!

I really really liked his character. Very cool guy.

Rest in Peace, Ron.

I agree.

I have no idea what he was like as a person, one sign of a great actor.

You’re so right. Was hoping that the third would be George S. but no such luck.

Whoever was the casting director on “Barney Miller” was a pure genius, not only for the perfect regular ensemble, but for the various characters who showed up as crooks and victims. A real classic.

Author of “Blood On The Badge”.

Years ago I caught an elevator ride with him at a DragonCon. We talked about Barney Miller for a minute.

He struck me as a very nice fellow.

RIP Det. Harris.
