Ron Glass, a centerpiece on the 70's sitcom "Barney Miller" has died ... according to his rep. Glass had recently battled with various illnesses, and was an active member in the L.A. Buddhist community. He passed away at his home Friday, where'd he'd been watched by a caretaker. Glass received an Emmy nomination for his role as Detective Ron Harris on the show ... he also made appearances on the original Hawaii Five-O, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Firefly and more recently on an episode of CSI in 2014. RIP
I really really liked his character. Very cool guy.
Rest in Peace, Ron.
Probably my favorite All in the Family episode.
Seems like deaths come in threes. Florence Henderson, Fidel Castro and this gentlemen’s. Only God knows who and when.
I loved Barney Miller..... I read where a cop said Barney Miller was as close to real as you could get. I vouchsafe for that statement. Many nights, days, afternoons I got off I thought to myself “ Nobody gonna believe this shit”. And I kept it to myself. The depths of human depravity, stupidity and just plain idiocy is too deep for a regular person to comprehend.
Where his [freshly shampooed?] hair freaked out Summer Glau.
Shiite!!! Der droppin like flies
Dat sucks....
RIP
Loved him on that show. Interesting that he was involved with the Buddhist community. Im thankful any suffering from illness is over for him. He joins other greats from that show...and that era.
Never thought he’d barely outlive Fish.
What a shame. Rest in peace, Mr. Glass.
He still looked great!
But then no one thought Fish would last the full series either ...
He cracked me up on Barney Miller talking about BOB: `Blood On The Badge’ his cop book.
And where he spoke to Mal Reynolds about the "special hell".
Hal Lipshitz is still kicking it...
He was Shepard Book in firefly. His character had a secret other life that they never got to.
Dude was one good looking Black man.
Luv’d his comedic timing and the rolling of his eyes...
I don't blame them for not mentioning "The New Odd Couple." (Ron Glass as Felix, Demond Wilson as Oscar.) It was a terrible show that lasted a half season. They made three big mistakes with this show: 1) Anytime you name a show "The New ___ , it's doomed from the start. 2) Since it was a black version of the original show, they tried too hard too make it 'hip." 3) They basically recycled old scripts from the Tony Randall/Jack Klugman version.
That being said, he was great on "Barney Miller." R.I.P. Ron Glass.
