Theres been a lot of discussion in the media whether the president-elect of the United States should be normalized. Id say that point became moot when Donald Trump reached 270 electoral votes around 2 a.m. on Nov. 9. Heres a more relevant question: When will the media stop normalizing the political musings of Jon Stewart, Larry Wilmore, Trevor Noah and all the other late-night comics?
When will the leading news organizations stop mistaking court jesters for seasoned experts? Implicitly, the members of this crew boast of their lack of interest in understanding political issues every time they try to deflect criticism of their political humor by protesting, Im just a comedian.
Why not take them at their word? Yet here they are, being treated as sober observers of the American scene. Stewart, on CBS This Morning, opined that Republicans have a cynical strategy to destroy government, then use its lack of working as evidence that it doesnt work. Sure, Jon. Remind me which party has controlled those notoriously super-functional governments in Baltimore, Chicago and Detroit for the last 50 years or more?
Stewart got no rebuttal for this absurd claim, because Stewart never does. The media give him the same hushed, respectful treatment they once gave church leaders, which is fitting enough in a way, since what Stewart delivers is Church of Liberalism dogma, not informed analysis.
Wilmore, who unlike Stewart doesnt even have much of a fan base (his Comedy Central program, The Nightly Show, was canned after just 18 months because it was drawing only 150,000 viewers in the 18-34 demographic, a bit more than half of what Trevor Noahs The Daily Show drew during that time), was welcomed this week to the pages of The New Yorker...

What is the difference between the late night comedy news and what the lame stream media dishes up everyday?
The latter fake news is usually funnier.
Jon Stewart Liebowitz’ time has come and gone. Trevor Whatever isn’t even half as good as Stewart was, and I’ve never heard of the third clown. I didn’t see any mention of that hack parrot Colbert, the worst of a bad lot.
This article is behind the times: Larry Wilmore's show was canceled over three months ago.
Colbert and Stewart were never funny. They just read satire and thought they were funny.
They’re trying to excuse their fake news under the guise of comedy.
Cure: just don’t watch the comedians, or the MSM.
Larry Wilmore called the POTUS the “n-word” to his face, at the WHCD, and Obama was touched by it.
Wilmore suffers from an affliction that seems to plague light-skinned Blacks that suffer from self-hatred of their White side. They overcompensate by acting “Super Black” (and hence super racist) by claiming to “find” anti-Black racism everywhere they go and subscribe to usually the most egregiously reactionary ultra-radical leftist ideology. Wilmore, Zero, Julian Bond, Melissa Harris-Perry, Soledad O’Brien, Kathleen Neal Cleaver, et al.
Have seen Jon Stewart and even a few minutes of Cobert, do not know the other names mentioned. But assume they are probably the nit-wits I have seen in shorts on the web.
Comedy is one thing, sophisticated bullshit is another.
There is a difference between ignorance, stupidity and foolishness. Of the three, the most potentially destructive is foolishness; most, if not all, of these men and women are fools.
I mean really, think back to the old kingdoms and empires. Would not these people be the court jesters and fools who sadly at times have the ear of the king.
Trevor Noah is a comedian?
