Former Governor Romney was one of Donald Trump’s harshest critics during the election. He assisted his opponents and was essentially working to get Hillary Clinton elected.

Donald Trump met with Mitt Romney in New Jersey last week. Sources said he was interviewing for the Secretary of State position with the Trump administration.

Trump supporters HATE the idea.

Now this… Transition Team sources told Ed Henry from FOX News that Mitt Romney is preparing a public apology. Mitt Romney is reportedly very interested in the Secretary of State job.

Have an enemy.
Decimate him.
Throw him a lifeline, so he can live to fight another day.

Very good post.

I don’t know what Mr. Trump’s foreign policy priorities are, but I assume he has them. He should appoint someone to the Sec. of State post who agrees with his priorities.

I would only add that it is a fact that Mittens is so jealous of Trump that he can’t see straight.

Agreed, and a jealous, weak, groveling, unprincipled backstabber is the last type of person we want anywhere near the new administration.

I trust Trump on this too.

Mitt will be a team player or Trump will crush him.

Trump has dealt with all kinds of weasels in biz. Mitt isn’t fooling him.

That sounds almost like, “I trust Trump no matter what he does.”

Tell me about it. I read that Kellyanne is telling him not to do it and quite frankly, it’s beyond me why he would.

Donald acts frequently as though he believes he can transform his enemies.

That might actually be true in some cases. There are others in which we know it didn’t pan out (hello Ms. Machado).

That would be optimal. “Apology accepted, Mitt”...”Rudy, are you ready to be Secretary of State?”

I'm not sure there is a real downside to Trump.

If after a short period of time they're proving to do a poor job he can simply say "you're fired", replace them, and they're instantly on the outside and looking bad.

My thoughts:
1. Romney really wants the job so he remains relevant in the Republican party. He hasn’t done anything since leaving Gov. of Mass except loss presidential election.

2. Romney wants job because he loves the country and wants to truly help.

3. Romney wants job so he can thwart Trump abroad and another Republican can run against Trump in 2020 Primaries.

4. Romney wants job to enrich himself some how.

What Mitt did is unforgivable IMO.
He did everything he could to trash Mr. Trump.
He’s too “hot” (i.e. wants it too much) for this job.
That’s a red flag to me.
He wants it for nefarious reasons.
GET RID OF HIM!!

If by “talented,” you mean Romney is a carbon copy of Paul Ryan, then you are correct. Romney’s tenure as governor of MA was an excruciatingly painful exercise in giving the Dems everything they wanted, while putting the financial thumbscrews to the already-taxed-into-oblivion working class to pay for it. It was a disaster from start to finish.

I’m sure Donald has thought of that in talking with many people he is interviewing.

I also kept having a sinking feeling thru the campaigning that at some point we may realize Trump is the snake in that poem. So far it’s looking like Trump is mostly sincere on promises.
