Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Tuesday that President-elect Donald Trump's pledge to pull out of an Obama administration trade deal is predictable but disappointing.
"The President-elects announcement that he intends to withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, though anticipated, is still a disappointment to those of us who still believe in free trade and the importance of Americas strategic role in the Asia-Pacific region," McCain, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said in a statement.
He added that Trump's decision to pull out of the trade deal, which is already expected to die on the vine in this year's lame-duck session, will help strengthen China's influence in the region.
"Already, China is intensifying its push for a new regional trade agreement, which excludes the United States," he said. America and the world paid a heavy price in the 1920s and 1930s when we tried to isolate ourselves from the world, including through disastrous protectionist policies."

If you read the Art of the Deal, Trump wrote that he hated making real estate deals with the Japanese.
He says they’d show up in groups of 5-6 sometimes 12 and you have to please them all instead of one off deals with each one. So you have to give into each one and by the time you’re done you’re conceding to 12 different demands while they’d only have to concede to his one.
This is sort of his philosophy with the trade deals.
McDork, your time is up.
Assume room temp asap.
Improve our IQ, morality, and leadership.
McCain was a war hero...so was Adolf Hitler and Timothy McVeigh.
McCain has had a lifetime of opportunity to influence America. It’s time he retired and let fresh ideas in.
FUJM.
You can bet your bottom dollar that McLame; Graham; Mitch the ditch; and RINO RYAN will vote AGAINST everything President Trump wants to do...
They are after all RINOs...
They were called "The Roaring Twenties" for a reason. You might try looking into why that is.
Smoot-Hawley Tariff 1930
Unintentionally? Pull my finger.
My sentiments, exactly!
Just before 9/11, we moved to Az and the first thing we did was register to vote so we could vote against McCain. He was basically saved by 9/11. We have since moved from Az because there are too many Californians moving to the state to get away from Calif socialism but they were just bringing it to Az. As far as I am concerned, McCain is just a male version of Elizabeth Warren. He is long past his useful date.
McPain? Who cares???
He truly is a neocon ass who wants us to be on the wrong side of the Syrian civil war.
F McCain. If he doesn’t like then it’s the right thing to do
Who is going to live longer?
McCain?
Or the Retired folks in Arizona that keep voting him it.
I am guessing McCain.
Better get used to being disappointed McLame.
If he’s sad about it - all the more reason to get behind it 0
“How much BRIBE MONEY will this turd and his Quisling buddies have to give back now??”
That was my first thought also, I’m ashamed that America has leaders like this weak corrupt man and they continue to elect him over and over again to public office,
This disgusting NWO ISIS loving Globalist fell over on his back like a beaten dog when his master Obama walked past, he surrendered as quickly as he could in 2008.
I expect all uniparty pols will be.
