BREAKING NEWS: President-elect Donald Trump has named Betsy DeVos, a conservative activist and billionaire philanthropist who has pushed forcefully for private school voucher programs nationwide, as his nominee for education secretary, according to a person close to DeVos.

Then we are doomed as a country.
It’s not just black kids. My wife is a teacher (was in the public school system), so we know. There is no way can we throw away 1/3 or more of the kids, in all but the most rural parts of the country, for another generation, and have the country survive as something worthwhile. If that 1/3 were all in, say, Southern CA, and we could just chop it off, then maybe we could (survive). That would not be a very Christian solution, though.
Regardless, even in flyover country towns of pop. 5000 or more, there are often big problems in the public schools. We are in exactly such a place, and it’s a big part of why we home school.

Many of you are asking about Common Core. To clarify, I am not a supporterperiod. Read my full stance, here: https://t.co/qB2nAXvX0B— Betsy DeVos (@BetsyDeVos) November 23, 2016
Read and educate yourself: http://betsydevos.com/qa/. Don’t be ignorant like liberals.
Rather than personal insults why don’t you read the links provided? DeVos is on the Board of Directors of an organization whose agenda is adoption of Common Core.

Mrs. DeVos has been directly been involved in education issues for many years, at many levels, and in many organizations. Check her website. And her statement seems pretty clear. Yet you presume to judge how she should spend her time and money, and you presume she is lying.
Given her background, Mrs. DeVos probably has a lot better idea of how she can be most effective, than you or I.
For now, I’m inclined to give her, and Trump, the benefit of the doubt.
She has enough money to form her own foundation(s) without being on the board of those with whom she has significant disagreement.
Ergo, she doesn’t have significant disagreement with the common core pushing foundations.
They are already "thrown away". These kids have no interest in school. Their culture is toxic and anti-white. They are hopeless as it is. Tinkering around the margins (academies, tougher disciple) hasn't and won't work. The tough love is to get rid of welfare. Welfare subsidizes all sorts of pathologies and allows the toxicity to continue, generation after generation. There is no easy solution. Welfare is the problem.
I am merely trying to point out that the ED problem requires an ear from more than the upper ranks people. He failed to give an ear to the grassroots. We cannot maintain a Constitutional Republic when American citizens are nowhere close to being served in the public system and yet commandeered by corporate interests on the one side or Feds on the other.
This School Choice/Charter model is what the new pick supports. It is scary to me. The kids will continue to be brainwashed.
Excerpt from Robin Eubanks on Choice-Author of Credentialed to Destroy
Here she points out what the think tanks and control freaks have in store for us.
Our guiding principle in the design of a choice system is this: public authority must be put to use in creating a system that is almost entirely beyond the reach of public authority. If that sounds like nowhere to effectively appeal for any parent or student who grasps that School Choice and the law are to be used to impose the consciousness needed for the Human Development Society, the related footnote confirmed it:
A good way of mitigating it [state legislatures or governors trying to control schools or their new mission in the future], however, would be to design institutions around fully decentralized authority and then install them through constitutional amendment. The legal foundation of the new system would then be very difficult to change or violate once put in place.
Devos just responded to Common Core issue:

SCHOOL CHOICE HAS APPOINTED BOARDS-SOVIET STYLE. OMG-I’m so pissed!
Read about School Choice. The nightmare will continue. Commie Core has been woven into fed ed for decades.
Now the end game is to entice homeschoolers into the “private school” designation via School Choice-slick marketing.
Ha..shortly to be changed to
Constitutional Core.
Those are what she claims are her views, look at her deeds.
Since at least 2013 through today she is a Board Member of an organization dedicated to implementing Common Core.

One doesn’t sit for three and a half years on the Board of an organization whose sole purpose is implementation of Common Core if one doesn’t support Common Core.
Read the AFT statement regarding her being picked. I think it’s a great pick. They say she will destroy public education. Lol
“Naive optimists are thinking, Oh, being around good students will turn these poor students into good students by example. Nope. It always goes the other way.”
Well, 95% of the time, at least. That’s the Law of Moral Gravity: like “King Of The Hill”; it’s ALWAYS easier to get pulled down than to pull someone else up. Takes a VERY strong, well-rooted character to resist the pull, and that’s rare in kids under — well, under 30, these days, but, you get the drift.
